A man arrested after a stabbing and subsequent police operation that shut down an area of Fredericton’s north side Monday has been remanded pending a bail hearing.
Matthew Boone, 23, appeared by telephone in Fredericton provincial court from the city police station cellblock Tuesday morning and was charged with assaulting Roger Paul with a weapon (a Wenger Swiss knife) and with possessing that knife for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
Crown prosecutor Jennifer Bueno objected to the defendant’s release, and Judge Lyne Raymond remanded him pending a bail hearing, to be held online on Wednesday.
