Hello everyone – unfortunately I’ve been proper ill for 10 days so that slowed down my publishing schedule. But I also decided this year to not be tied up by a schedule and to write when there’s really something I want to share with you and that I think you’ll like.
Fortunately I recovered my energy just in time for our few days of disconnection in Scotland
We’re at Lundies House again – our second stay. It’s tucked away in Tongue, in the North Highlands – genuinely in the middle of nowhere – and it’s one of those rare places that reminds me why I started From the Poolside in the first place.
Yes, there’s no pool. But this is a proper Poolside hotel in every other sense – beautiful design, real intimacy (just a handful of rooms), excellent food, and service that feels genuinely personal rather than performed. Finding this level of attention and quality in such a remote location is what makes it special.
The North Highlands in February aren’t for everyone – it’s dramatic, moody, often wet. But there’s something about the rawness of it that works. And coming back to Lundies House, with its warmth and care, feels like the kind of luxury that actually matters. Upon our arrival today they served us tea with hot from the oven brown sugar madeleines, that’s what I’m talking about!
Below are a few photos and video to get you in the vibe! I’ll share more photos soon. I will also inquire about their new hotel Hope Lodge set to open in May. We drove by it earlier but I will ask for more info during our stay!
For now, just wanted to say hello again – and remind you that sometimes the best hotels are the ones without pools.
