Well, it’s miles too hot to be out in the garden today, with another 35+ degrees day for us in the West Midlands. The garden is really starting to suffer now, and I’m praying to any god available for some rain next week, but it’s not looking very hopeful!
To avoid a potential sweaty meltdown, it’s admin time for me, which isn’t my favourite pastime. I’m not a natural writer, but if I don’t produce newsletters, how will you guys find out what’s happening here in the studio?!

This will be the second time Emily Sidwell and I have run this course after a wonderful session in March. Emily will demo how to make a wax cast flower that will then be used to create a brass flower. This can either be made into a pendant or, as in my case, a flower stem like the one below, which I made in March.
I’ll be showing you how to make an autumnal arrangement using the best of whatever is available in the cutting garden on the day. This will probably involve a pumpkin, and of course you will take your arrangement home with you to enjoy.
There’ll be a crucial refreshment break at half-time in the summerhouse with home-baked goodies and herbal teas made with leaves plucked from the garden.

This year I’ll only be running 2 daytime Christmas Wreath courses, and I’m toying with the idea of an evening “Christmas by Candle Light” course, but that’s still an idea in my head at the moment!
2026 is going to be the year of the fabulously wild and rustic wreath here at FGTV. We’ll be going fuller to create something a bit more “wow” than in previous years - and I can’t wait!!!
So join me either on Friday 27th November 9.30-11.30 am or Saturday 28th November 1-3 pm in the garden studio. I’ll bake something festive and get the Christmas tunes going.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if the garden and studio had a little covering of snow for the festive courses? We could light the wood burner in the summerhouse and relax in front of the flickering firelight.
