Education: Strong & Free Again!

We have seen a steady decline in our education system over the last 40 years. When we were much younger than we are today, our school day started with the pupils singing O' Canada, God Save the Queen, saying the Lord's Prayer and 5 minutes of Exercise to what we called The Popcorn Song (No idea if that was the true name or not). Heavy emphasis was then put on reading, math, history, current events and the science of the world around us. We held competitions to see who could solve math equations the fastest. The mad minute was Jody’s favourite! She was great at multiplication tables; she rarely lost those competitions. Physical Education was key to a strong and healthy body therefore gym class was everyday. We had 15 minute recesses twice a day and at least a 60 minute lunch hour. We looked forward to those much needed breaks, to burn our pent up energy off and to socialize. In those days play equipment such as swings, monkey bars, slides and balls were not banned. Double dutch, hop scotch, british bull dog, red rover and soccer baseball were huge favourites of all the kids! As we got older learning about our Constitution and the Canadian Bill of Rights, life skills, respect for our history, and social graces became our focus. We learned about our country and our ancestors, how they built Canada together all while continuing the focus on a healthy mind and body. Teachers dressed like well respected professionals and the students actually came to class to learn together without passing judgement. Students did not pass for fear of hurting their feelings, they passed their grade because they earned it. Students failed, students excelled, they competed and most of all they learned how to succeed and thrive in a world that they would soon inherit as adults.

Ten years after Jody’s graduation she would watch her own children enter the public school system. She became a parent volunteer so that she could support and champion their education. Jody watched as the students stood for a pre-recorded rock anthem of O'Canada, no longer proudly singing the words but rather just listening. The Lord's prayer was gone and so was the 5 minutes of exercise to start the day. Everyone got participation ribbons for showing up, competition was no longer thought of as a good thing but rather something that caused harm to the emotional and mental well-being of the student. Gym was now only 2 times a week, 3 if your teacher was an athlete, and talk of the Canadian Bill of Rights and the Constitution had all but disappeared!

Today, the anthem played no longer has lyrics but is an instrumental rendition that is barely recognizable as O' Canada. You cannot tell who the teachers are from the students as they all dress and look the same. Sexual orientation, gender identification, diversity, equality, inclusion and "how to" manuals of sexual gratification are the main focus of our education system. History is not something we learn from but rather hide in shame or use to create division and loathing of oneself. Gym class has been relegated to once a week, if the teachers and students are feeling "up to it". There is no competition for fear of causing emotional distress. Teaching to the lowest denominator is the norm so that no one gets left behind or is able to excel. The educational system has taken the approach that they must create a feeling that people are all equal and the same, so all the kids, regardless of emotional or mental maturity or capability are lumped into the same developmental learning programs so that no one feels "special" anymore.

This new approach to learning is causing the great divide in our nation. Our children suffer far more learning disabilities and disadvantages than ever before. Our children are lacking the skills needed to thrive as adults and future leaders. They are lacking the understanding of how we managed to get to this place in time and how possible it is to evolve and better our society/country. Our public school system is broken and along with it, creating more and more inter-dependant, compliant to the state people that can neither critically think, manage their emotions nor create something better for our country.

We believe that until the public school system makes some drastic changes from within, that home schooling pods will become more and more popular. Jody was recently asked to join, as a volunteer teacher (as there is no funding support for home schooling pods) at a Christian Values home schooling pod. Seeing the need for children to understand their rights and how politics is run, if we are ever going to change things for the better, Jody agreed to drive 2 hours and 38 minutes every Wednesday to teach Politics to 12 yr olds - 17 yr olds, for 50 minutes in the morning, and then drive another 2 hours and 38 minutes home again. Jody is teaching 15 kids in total and several of their parents also sit in on the class as active participants. The parents have given Jody permission to live stream the class for those at home who cannot make the drive into the class (become a paid subscriber to our Substack and you too can take part in watching the classes) . These students are hungry to learn how legislation/acts are made. How the government works. What our Canadian Bill of Rights and the Constitution is. How both Acts affect their daily lives and how every decision that affects their lives; every rule in society, every dollar spent, every program available, every health protocol, is decided upon at the Government level. The kids were shocked to learn that Governments are typically run by lobby groups, non-governmental organizations and foreign corporations that we, Canadians, do not elect let alone even know about. These students are learning that understanding our history is what will make our future brighter by avoiding the same mistakes. They are actively excited and helping to lead the class topics with their discussions. These kids are our future leaders and Jody is excited by their progress and their ability to question, debate, discern and brainstorm ideas together without the theatrics that we see everyday in our Parliament.

After the politics class, these students go on to careers & civics, phys-ed, wood working and home economics; all skills that they will actually need and use as future adults! These students will be better off for the decision their parents made to pull them out of the public school system in favour of a home schooling co-op pod that begins the day being proud to be Canadian, actually standing on guard singing O' Canada without any accompaniment. Saying the Lord's Prayer and then adding on their own prayer for thanks, healing etc. for the things that matter in their lives and community around them. These parents have taken charge of what their children learn and it does not involve hate, division, self-loathing, sex or labels but rather life skills, historical, mathematical and scientific knowledge with the added focus of actual health and physical well being. This is what our schools need so desperately to focus on. We are all the same yet different. The Same in our human needs and basic scientific/health structure, but different in our levels of understanding, strength and skill. Those differences are what makes us great and balanced as a society and should not be assimilated in to one giant melting pot of sexual stupidity. It is time to bring critical thinking back into the classroom. Time to focus on life skills and natural health. Time to bring back history, math and science exploration. Time to bring back morals, respect, values and ethics. The time for division, hate, sexual focus and ignorance is passed if we truly want to make Canada strong and free again!
