Hey friends, welcome to another batch of Fresh Donuts! It’s been months since I’ve piped up over here, but rest assured I often feel pangs of guilt when I think about how long ago my last newsletter went out. So, I’m here to rectify that with a new comic, some news, and some extra stuff just for fun.
How has your winter been going? Mine has been cold with lots of fluffy white snow and the occasional pristine donut.
I’m very excited to share that I designed my local library’s new card! I love my library! I mean, they just give you books – for free – and all you have to do is return them? Amazing.
As a kid, I used to get dropped off for hours and now it consistently feeds whatever interest is top of mind. My local librarians know me by name and hand me stacks of children’s books, graphic novels, short stories, cook books – you name it, every week. I also happened to meet my dearest while working at the library some **cough cough** decades ago.
RIP to Martin Parr: One of my favorite photographers left the Earth in December. Martin is probably best know for his photos of British people doing all sorts of things – mostly at leisure, and often with a sly humor, a striking juxtaposition, and a colorful focus. My favorite book of his is the absurdly charming and quotidian Real Food – filled with food shots from all over the world in all their strange and common settings.
