I’m definitely a planner, but I’m also a natural researcher. I revel in discovery, map-making, and connecting to a place before I even step foot there. I usually build a pin map that supports my spatial exploration style, rather than a rigid itinerary. Unless there’s a reservation or time-based experience that requires structure, I prefer a flexible plan: a set of options that helps me make the most of a trip while still leaving room for spontaneous exploration.

This is a new Field Guide format (for paid subscribers), organized the way I actually travel, with recommendations for standout dining, elevated hospitality, wellness experiences, culture/craft/shopping, and unexpected discoveries. It’s a constellation of spaces, moments, textures, and little rituals you’ll want to save for your next trip.

  • Why it’s special: dine al fresco under trees + string lights, with a mountain scape backdrop

  • What to order: the branzino (truly the best preparation I’ve had of this fish), plus the Mediterranean farro salad that my husband and I discussed recreating at home, & deviled eggs topped with yuzu kosho!

  • Good to know: they also serve a Mediterranean meets Californian breakfast menu
