After over twenty years at Blogspot, I have finally made the move to Substack. My intent is to use this new platform to share articles of interest to those exploring or studying the Western esoteric tradition, particularly in relation to the Order of the Golden Dawn, Enochian magic, and Gnosticism (three areas I have extensive experience with).
For those encountering my work for the first time, a brief introduction may be in order.
I have spent many years immersed in the study and practice of the Western magical tradition. That immersion has taken many forms: membership of several esoteric orders (including Freemasonry and several Golden Dawn groups); the writing of two substantial volumes on the Enochian system (Enochian Magic in Theory and Enochian Magic in Practice); and the establishment of Kerubim Press, an independent publisher dedicated to producing scholarly and practical works on the occult.
Through Kerubim Press, I have also had the privilege of editing several significant works, including The Complete Initiation Rituals of the Golden Dawn, The Complete Knowledge Lectures & Side Lectures of the Golden Dawn, The Complete Pentagram & Hexagram Rituals of the Golden Dawn (Forthcoming), and The Light Extended: A Journal of the Golden Dawn, to which many distinguished contributors have lent their expertise over its seven volumes to date. I have also contributed an article to every volume.
One of my big aims over the years has been to challenge the accepted narratives and assumptions made about the history, tradition, and practice of the Golden Dawn system. For too long, we have relied on erroneous transcriptions, truncated teachings, and single primary sources. When looking at multiple (even as many as a dozen) copies of original manuscripts, it is clear that there is much still to uncover.
This Substack will serve as a complement to my long-running blog (https://frateryechidah.blogspot.com), where I have written extensively on the Golden Dawn tradition for many years. Here, however, I intend to offer more developed essays that engage seriously with primary sources, examine the history and doctrines of the tradition with scholarly care, and occasionally venture into the practical dimensions of the Great Work.
I am also pleased to announce that Kerubim Press has several significant projects in development, including The Complete Golden Dawn Tarot Deck, the most accurate and complete rendering of the Order’s Tarot designs yet attempted. Further details will follow in due course.
For those who have followed my work previously, I am grateful for your continued support. For those who are new here, I hope you find the future articles interesting and informative.
Yours fraternally,
Frater Yechidah
