Our last hike in the Franconian Switzerland took us from Pottenstein into the Püttlach Valley. Along the way, we discovered beaver dams, the Hollenberg ruins with a stunning panoramic view, and free-roaming goats - before rewarding ourselves with iced coffee at a local bakery.
A day of surprises in Franconian Switzerland: From hobbit-like beer cellars and a Jewish cemetery to Greifenstein Castle. Despite chilly winds and forgotten jackets, the hike delivered cherries, panoramic views, and a historic steam locomotive. A perfect blend of history and nature.
On day 4 we spent less time driving and more hiking! Starting from Gößweinstein, through lush forests, discovering a cave and walking along the river Wiesent. And some history on the way as well!
A day exploring Franconian Switzerland’s Rabenstein Castle, Sophien Cave, and Neideck Ruins—complete with a medieval festival, a guided cave tour, and surprising history lessons.
