Oracle Kept In The Dark About Huge Pipeline Venture While Supervisor Jeff McClure says “I’ve had meetings with these people ... I know them ... I know all about this project.”

A smart, sharp eyed local resident, Craig Anderson, in attendance at the Pipeline “Open House” Fiasco, writes:

“Following is a ‘thought provoking’ portion of my brief encounter with Supervisor McClure at the Energy Transfer Open House on 4/23/26, Rancho Robles. It occurred inside the very small and crowded Open House room.

Craig Anderson:          

“Jeff, it’s good to see you here. (We shook hands. I think he recognized  me but may not have remembered my name).”

Supervisor McClure:   

“I’ve had meetings with these people ... I know them ... I know all about this project.”

(Anderson continues: )“I can’t let go of this exchange. Our community was caught off guard about the Open House being held in our community ... at a private venue. It appears that very few, if any, residents knew about the meeting. Two Energy Transfer flyers were posted at the Oracle Post Office on Tuesday, one day before the meeting. I do not recall Supervisor McClure mentioning the event in any of his public announcements regarding community activities.

Anderson had written a day before the open house, “Obviously, a project of this scope has been years in the planning and construction, yet why are we just finding out about a ‘public open house’ scheduled for tomorrow regarding the Desert Southwest Expansion Project?

The pipeline and facilities will snake through the Lower San Pedro River Valley, Pinal County and the communities of San Manuel, Oracle and possibly Saddlebrook Ranch. How will it impact the environs of our beloved Oracle State Park and the Arizona Trail?

When were the San Carlos Apache and Tohono o’odham Nations informed of the project so they could determine the impact to their sovereign lands and rights?

When was this project approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission? When did the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) “public input period” occur that met the requirements of environmental protection laws and the Environmental Protection Agency’s policies? Who is the recipient of this “natural gas”?

How did we miss this or was it purposely kept under the radar?
