Cher · Doing It for the Attention

Hi! Welcome to the November edition of Attention-Worthy. The next edition will go out on December 11, 2025. If you have something you’d like to promote then, hit reply and send me the link. (Anything goes! An article you wrote, a painting you did, a poem you wrote. I want to share it with everyone I know.)

The wonderful Grace Quantock is raising money so that she has the capital to put her book, Living Well with Chronic Illness, in hospital waiting rooms across Wales, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. This is so important when you consider that almost half of the population in the UK lives with a chronic condition, and they often don’t have access to quality information about how to have more agency while living with a long-term condition. There are less than 40 days left, and she’s 70% of the way to her goal. You can donate and learn more about it here.

Sophy Dale has dreamed up a new group program that I am so excited to participate in (and I almost never ever participate in group programs anymore). It’s called Expand Your Business Ecosystem, and it’s designed to help you increase your reach without having to spend your life on social media. I’m really curious about partnerships and continuing to evolve my relationship-based marketing, so this program came at the right time for me. Finally, if I remember correctly, I believe today is the last day to sign up. Learn more and join the program here.

Chef Carla Contreras has a Substack that brings me so much joy and helps me fill my creative cup. It’s called Nourishing Creativity. Under that umbrella, she offers the Press Publish Club (such a good name!) for just $5/mo. You get direct access to 90-minute co-working sessions and monthly micro workshops. Check it out here.

I can’t say enough good things about the work and the writing that Courtney Romano is putting into the world. When she’s not supporting NonDē filmmakers over at Let's Go Again, she’s creating marketing campaigns to help said creatives get their important work out into the world. In November, she’s opening up 4 1:1 experiences to do just that. You can learn more about it here.

Caitlin from Caitie Means Business has created one of the most generous limited-time freebies that I’ve seen in a while – and she’s extended her deadline for Doing It for the Attention readers. If you jump on it, you can book a free 20-minute website audit so she can help you pinpoint what your site needs to support your next level – before you spend any money on unnecessary updates. Learn more and book here.

Calling all introverts! Mahlena-Rae Johnson has written an article you definitely want to bookmark. It’s called “Hello, Bonjour: A networking guide for ambitious introverted immigrants.” Read it here.

Kara Cutruzzula launched Read the Hat, which is a publication for off-Broadway craft, culture, and people. Go read it !

Stephanie and Marnie, from The Art of Living Well Podcast®, have extended their platform to Substack. If you’re a woman in midlife who loves learning about accessible wellness strategies, I recommend you check it out.

Julia Campbell is hosting her annual Nonprofit Social Media Summit to help folks in nonprofit amplify impact through cutting-edge social media strategies. It’s virtual, free to attend, and happening from Wednesday, November 18 - Thursday, November 19. You can read more and register here.

If you’re a writer working on the first draft of your novel (or the second/third), it’s not too late to join First Draft November. I’m out of my writing sprint, but I’m saving all of the emails for my next round of writing. Join here.

In that same spirit, I’m a huge fan of Round Table Mentor, which I learned about through Tali Shammas. It’s 100% free and geared toward any unagented writers who have not been previously agented or traditionally published. One of their goals is to make sure at least 50% of their mentees and mentors are people of color. See if you might be a fit for mentorship here.

I quit using music streaming services about six months ago, and I’ve never looked back. That’s why I loved this list from Scribble Scrabble on organic ways to find new music. Radio, ftw.

As a creative who is always wondering what I can do to be a “better” creative, I loved this Q&A with Richard Dent IV all about clowning.

“One of the things I start with in class is something from one of my first directors, Orlando Pabotoy, who said, “Just make an agreement that nothing needs to change in you in order for you to do your work.” And it just gave me a lot of grace within myself.”

This post from Cup of Jo about increasing your joy span.

Yes, I sure am the kind of person who wants this analog phone to plug into my smartphone.

Sharing and bookmarking and thinking about this self-check in about personal power and agency from Mia Henry.

A hopeful and, to me, incredibly practical, take on the climate crisis.

“When we are no longer attentive to the wild Others that surround us, our inner ecosystem suffers biodiversity loss.”

Agreed. Social capital isn’t meant to be hoarded.

I ordered from gluten-free goodies from this bakery out of Oakland, CA for Mid-Autumn Festival, and it was a true joy to be able to eat a gluten-free pineapple cake again.

I have this band on repeat right now.
