Times are tough everywhere. Please support these friends if you are willing and able.
PALESTINE: My friend Maram and her children are still suffering in Gaza and could use your help for basic necessities to live a daily life.
NYC: Artist Max Colby has been suffering from medical issues for the past year and has been unable to make art, and could use your help if you’re willing and able, as she recovers from surgeries.
COLORADO: Daniel Bishop, son of the visionary artist and creator of Bishop Castle, has suffered major injuries in an accident near the environment, plus the Colorado wildfires are dangerously close to the castle and could use your help as they recover.
In the twelfth episode of the FolkArtwork and Friends podcast, I talk to my good friend and art environment extraordinaire, "Narrow" Larry Harris. I can't remember the first time I met Larry, but I've been going to his website, narrowlarry.com, for years as he has been documenting, scouring maps and encyclopedias, and more to find any and every art environment possible in the United States.
We talk about how his work as an architect influenced his love for these self-taught environments, including his visits to The Orange Show and Watts Towers, which led him to build a replica of the towers, now housed in the Kohler Museum collection.
Visit www.narrowlarry.com to find an art environment near you!
Thanks for coming to art environment summer, new episodes will be back to being released on the first Friday of the month. Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and with video on YouTube. Like, subscribe, share, and keep coming back for more. Thanks so much!

The biggest shout out to Jason Busch, Director & CEO of the American Folk Art Museum, for including me in the latest issue of The Magazine Antiques, as well as Cara Zimmerman, head of Outsider Art at Christie’s, for the thoughtful questions heading into America’s 250 and including one of my favorite photos of me getting the best pipecleaner hug from Montrel Beverly!
JACKIE BRADSHAW is a neurodivergent folk artist from Kitchener, Ontario. After the birth of her son, she started a home daycare and began using leftover paint from the children to create mirror-image paintings. Immersed in this process, she began producing hundreds of works and continues to create art to calm her mind and body. Her artwork has been shown across Canada, at the Outsider Art Fair in New York City, and in private collections across North America.
