Changes to the website

This is a brief follow-up to the post I made in September concerning the plan for FluConf 2026. Due to my personal circumstances I'm not going to have as much time to organize FluConf as I did this time last year. I had proposed four options to handle this, and I eventually settled on the fourth:

restructure the event to be more peer-to-peer so that hardly any coordination is required

As with the inaugural 2025 edition, FluConf 2026 is being planned as an online alternative to FOSDEM for COVID-cautious people who are involved with or interested in FOSS and free culture.

It will take place on the weekend of January 31st and February 1st, 2026.

Once again, the format will be a bit of an experiment. In the interest of reducing the amount of necessary time and coordination, there will be no call for proposals and review period. If you want to share something for FluConf then you are welcome to do so. As long as your contribution is within the bounds of the Code of Conduct then I'll include it in a curated overview on the FluConf website.

I'm going to elaborate on these policy decisions soon, but before I do so I'm focusing on getting the website in order. The following changes have already been made:

1. Pages from the inaugural 2025 edition of FluConf have been moved to a new 2025 subdomain. Redirects have been set up for all such pages that have been archived, so their original links will continue to work.

2. This website (fluconf.online) will now be used for general information about the event. That will include a broad overview and various policies, along with blog posts like this one so that subscriptions to the site's RSS feed continue to work as expected.

3. Details for the upcoming edition of FluConf will be hosted on the new 2026 site, which is still very much a work in progress.

Some information might be outdated or out of place as things are being shuffled around, so please excuse the mess.

I'll share updates concerning the 2026 event's format as soon as possible, along with information for those who want to get involved as co-organizers, contributors, and participants.
