My camera roll is brimming with photos from last month*, many outfits included. Partly because I cut my hair in June—and was both sartorially playing with and adjusting to a shorter lid—but also because there were just more things to dress up for.
*this bleeds into June and August, so as to show you more.
Some I’ve already posted, but the ones below the paywall I’ve reserved for this email.
If I were to psychoanalyse myself, there’d be a talking point on my oscillating between androgynous and feminine clothes. Pre-cut, I was very comfortable favouring the former most days, but I feel myself gravitating towards girlier-than-usual colours and silhouettes, to perhaps offset my hair. It’s also too hot to wear my more boyish jeans and slouchy coats, so cotton sundresses and printed skirts are in heavy rotation. Looking through the past month or so, it’s nice to see how often I return to some accessories: my yellow tote, silver flats, and brown slippers in particular have been working overtime.
For a long lunch at Petersham Nurseries: the perfect summer suit (jacket; trousers), along with the most comfortable slippers that I’ve already worn to death (mine are in Moka).
For a pre-birthday meal at Impala with Audrey: a matchy cashmere tank from my mum, and C of H capris (the only capris I’ve found that actually fit well).
For wild swimming on my birthday, a red one-piece from Lahuir
… followed by a barbecue, guinness cake, and dancing in a Coucou cotton slip and Breda watch.
In Singapore and Taipei, sweaty variations on a theme. I packed and wore: a Flore Flore halter; Essen silver flats; Toogood black trousers; a beige Épice bag (a similar colourway); a Matteau blue shirt (different colours); a Tankair midi skirt; the same brown slippers; and a Chava pink shirt.
For Audrey’s wedding, a custom set by ZN Ali and Alohas The Row dupes (these are alike in both design and price point).
For being clean and showered back in London’s breezy climes, on my way to watch The Odyssey (having not slept a wink on the plane): Matteau breton top, cotton trousers, Havaianas, and a baby Valiese bag.
