To Bind Our Echoes That We May Be Whole

ALT ALT ALT ALT ALT ALT To Bind Our Echoes That We May Be Whole The apocalypse has come and gone, and against all odds, Pharloom remains standing. The time has come for Hornet to return to Hallownest, accompanied by friends and allies: Shakra hopes to explore the mythical land beyond the wastes, and properly lay to rest a member of her own tribe; Lace fears unraveling without the aid of a Weaver,…

Oh, that one’s easy.

ingualadmirer : fireflysummers : Because I’ve received some complaints about this– In To Bind Our Echoes , Hollow’s pronouns are they/them, which was a conscious decision to both maintain their NB identity while separating themself from their upbringing, wherein it/its pronouns were actively used to dehumanize them. The only gendered term that the comic uses for Hollow is…

Slowly, slowly. The last page has two line heavy bgs.

fireflysummers : Current goal is to finish this final page and have Ch10 up tomorrow morning, exact time TBD. It’s been one of those chapters where the art has fought me at every single turn. Not really sure why, it’s not particularly complex or detailed compared to prior chapters. And yet… Anyways, the most important bit is that it’s getting done! Slowly, slowly. The last…

Vise doesn’t understand mothers and fathers? How much does he not understand? Cuz, like, there have to be SOME parents in the Mantis tribe, right? Surely there are moms and dads in the village?

He understands functionally what a mother and father are, but has no emotional attachment or personal experience with the concepts. He's an orphan, his memories of his earliest days are a haze of Infection, and he spent his formative years in the Gardens, often alone but occasionally with Hornet and Hollow and (to a much lesser extent) the Lady, none of whom were parental towards him. As a young…

Vise: EVERYONE older than me who helped raise me is an Auntie! 🥰 [read: the himbo has never heard the term “uncle” in his entire life]

He doesn't really understand mothers and fathers either. That's actually going to come up (a bit comedically) in a conversation waaaay in the future.

fakecrfan : solely-ashes : Forget about torturing your blorbos, putting them through the ringer. I’m putting my blorbo in perfectly ordinary, pleasant situations. Their tortured personality will cause them anguish anyway, making an absolutely mundane scene into the most dramatic, agony filled affair as though the world is ending and it’s all their fault

I’ve heard several variants and none of them fit this story.

Just wanted to say I’m so sorry about my previous ask, I should have used the proper pronouns and thought more about what I was saying. I wasn’t trying to make a request to change anything about your story. I phrased my request badly. I just thought that part of the comic was a cool idea and wanted to hear more a know your thoughts on the topic. I’m so sorry about all that. 😞

Don't worry about it! It was just a bit of an etiquette breach, so it felt appropriate to clarify some of my own boundaries. We're all in the process of learning, and the gods know I've made plenty of missteps of my own. You're doing great, and I'm very happy you are enjoying the comic! Your art looks lovely too. I've enjoyed both your animation and illustration work, and hope you keep it up!

If the theory that Hornet is not yet fully grown is true, how would you personally design her and how do you see her personality-wise?

I feel like I've been asked this before... unfortunately, my answer remains the same: I don't know! It's not a plot thread that really interests me, so I haven't really thought on it, and thus don't have any theories or design ideas. But I'm always happy to hear other people's thoughts!
