Can you share a bit about who you are, your background, your experience in finance and how you came to be involved in the finance sector?
Hello! I'm a software developer with 21 years of programming experience. Although I'm not currently in the finance sector, I've always had a keen interest in it. I'm excited to explore automated trading and apply my programming expertise in this area. However, the abundance of tools and courses being marketed on platforms like Instagram makes it challenging to know where to begin. I don't have industry experience yet, but I plan to document my journey into this field here.
What is your most rewarding investment?
I don’t really have that many investments yet. I have a house in California and a 401k. My 401k is pretty locked down as far as my investing options. It’s only getting 4.55% YTD while the S&P is at 7.86%, not great. My house though, since it’s Cali, it’s golden. I bought for $870k, it’s estimated at $1,492,500. Not including selling fees, just doing a basic calculation, that would be a 71.55% return on my investment.
