September Schedule & August Resources (ICYMI)

Hey finishers,

I can’t believe summer is coming to a close; fall is fast approaching, and back-to-school season is in full effect! I know this time of year is so busy for many of us! It has been busy for me! I am ready to get back into a routine with my kiddos back in school.

I also know the clock is ticking for many of us, as we have many holiday finishes (if you’re like me, probably way too many) we are trying to complete! This month, The Needlepoint Finishing Club will be deep-diving into another soft finish! But I also want this month to be about accountability as we all try to finish our projects! I hope you join us for some of the fun as we keep each other accountable to finish our WIPs! See more below!

First, we hosted a Beginner Finish Along focused on coasters and acrylic foot standups! Coasters and acrylic foot standups are such a fun way to expand on your finishing skills! We build on techniques of ornament finishing to turn our canvases into fun finishes we can enjoy all year long! This finish is also SUPER important to conquer as it is the basis for any project with cording that requires an invisible join. If you missed it, make sure to check out the recording below.

We also hosted Part 1 of our Special Shape Gusseted Standup Finish Along! In Part 1, we covered selecting and prepping your project, cutting and layering your foam core, finishing the front and back needlepoint, and building the gusset.

Part 2 is on Wednesday, September 2nd, 7:30–9:30 PM ET and will cover assembling the standup, attaching your cording, and finishing touches.

If you missed it, we are continuing to bring Soft Finishes to the Club! We recently published a Knife-Edge Self-Welt Pillow Tutorial from the amazing Darci McKinnon. And will be bringing more pillow content in September (keep reading below for the deets!)

We all know that as Fall is approaching, our holiday finishing to-dos are catching up to us! Let me be your finishing accountability partner! Bring your WIP finishes and your questions! As a community, we will provide support and answer questions so we can finish our Holiday projects on time!

• I will start the session with a mini tutorial (10-15 minutes) on a technique/tip.

• Then the floor will be open! Ask your finishing questions! Let us know what you’re stuck on and get help from not just me, but also the rest of our finishing community in real time!

This month we are taking a deep dive into another pillow technique! We will be highlighting guest finisher S. Melody Frierson of Ain’t She Sweet Studio! Check out the fun things we have planned below!

• Learn all about our September Guest Finisher. Her story, her advice, and her finishing expertise.

• Learn a new Pillow technique from Melody, a pillow and soft finish expert!

• Bring your questions about needlepoint finishing, stitching, pillows, tutorial-specific needs, and more! This is your chance to get advice and tips from not just one but two professional finishers! We can’t wait!
