“Sailboat Adventure in San Juan, Puerto Rico” (2009) | FineArtExpressions.com

Each time that I travel to the Caribbean, I’m always in awe at the beautiful color of the water. If you haven't been there before, just picture a large chlorine enriched swimming pool and you'll have an idea of what the water color looks like. Because it is so clear, it is often difficult to gauge the depth of the water. You may look at it and think that it is not too deep because you may be able to see the bottom. However, after you jump in, intending for a quick trip to the bottom, you will realize just how much you miscalculated.

The temperature of the water is often not too warm and not too cold—yep, it’s just right! If you add to that, the light-colored sandy beaches and you have the recipe for a very relaxing experience. In my opinion, these are the perfect conditions for anyone seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustles of everyday life to just relax. In 2009, I captured this scene of several sailboats while vacationing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Personally, I don't own a boat, but it was such a pleasure to just watch these as they sailed past. Each time that I look at this expression, I am reminded of the calming, relaxing experience that I enjoyed while I was there! Years later, in 2017, a hurricane struck the island, causing massive damage. I have not revisited San Juan since my visit years earlier, but I hope that everything has since returned back to normal. I’m certainly looking forward to the next opportunity that I have to visit and enjoy this great venue again!

"A work of art should not be hidden from view. Rather it should be showcased so that it may be a catalyst that brings about positive emotion, a feeling of relaxation or simply a feeling of enjoyment!" —Kenneth L. Montgomery
