“Hostile Takeover” | FineArtExpressions.com

This selection is called, “Hostile Takeover”. I know, I know, what gave me the idea to name a floral expression that! Let me explain! Many years ago, I had a friend and colleague who was one of my biggest supporters. Her name was Christine. She was always eager to see my new work and often extended words of praise when she saw them.

One day, Christine told me about an upcoming charity event that would grant access to some secluded scenic locations. She had taken part in the event in prior years and was eager to show me some of the pictures that she captured. After seeing them, I decided to take part and see what interesting expressions I would come across myself. I figured, if I didn't see any appealing scenes, at least I would be donating to a worthy cause.

Once the event kicked off. I quickly realized that the sponsoring homeowners lived in an affluent community. They were very gracious to open up their homes to total strangers to explore and enjoy. Several of homeowners had nicely manicured flower gardens on their properties. As I was touring one particular garden, I came across a very interesting scene. There was a large patch of green ferns growing out back. Interestingly, there was a small patch of flowers banding and growing together near the center. That splash of vibrant color was very eye-catching. It seemed as though this determined group of flowers were expanding from within the big sea of green ferns. They were claiming the space and taking no prisoners in the process. At least, that's what I thought as I captured several photos of the scene. In honor of the scene that I beheld, I affectionately named it, “Hostile Takeover”!

Christine is no longer with us, but I often think of her when viewing this and other expressions that I captured during that fun-filled occasion.

"A work of art should not be hidden from view. Rather it should be showcased so that it may be a catalyst that brings about positive emotion, a feeling of relaxation or simply a feeling of enjoyment!" —Kenneth L. Montgomery
