After fourteen Academy-Award nominations over the course of his thirty-year career, Paul Thomas Anderson finally received recognition at the 98th Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay for his latest film One Battle After Another (2025). However, before even reaching the Oscars stage, Anderson had already solidified his legacy as one of the top contemporary filmmakers of our generation. From a kid growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles with his 8mm camera to a highly regarded director crafting epic yet intimate films, Anderson’s journey into filmmaking has served as an inspiration for up-and-coming directors.
