We are living in the future…

My new washing machine has WiFi capability. Not why I bought it, but gosh whee, just the same.

Hello again.

So what the heck happened to my pledge to keep my blogs updated more regularly?

GivEnergy Solar/Battery Scheduling

A bit about my GivEnergy Battery/Inverter system.

WordPress Connections

There was a time when I could post to my WordPress blog, and it would autopost excerpts and links to multiple places - Facebook, Twitter etc. Then one by one the barriers of the walled gardens went up.

Shopping With Dog

I don't have to take Katie everywhere, and mostly she no longer even gets crated when I am out, now that she has uninterrupted access to the back garden. But I don't like to leave her for hours on hours, and sometimes where I am going is on the way to (or back from) somewhere that I would go to with Katie.

Scrabble Together

I'd been hearing about the new Scrabble that was out, a kinder, cooperative Scrabble. The usual media - the Mail, Express, Fox News - were all shrieking about it being the ultimate in wokeness and how it was going to ruin Scrabble for everyone.

I’m Back In The Office

No, don't worry, I am still retired! I've just moved things around an created a mini office for myself, upstairs.

Replacement Boiler Options

Contemplating my next step regarding heating the home. This is (hopefully) no time soon. My current gas boiler is 14 years old, so getting close to end-of-life, but has recently been serviced and is working OK. But I like to know where I am going when the inevitable happens.

Puppies and Kittens save Parliament

That in itself is not amusing. What is amusing is that Truss's bill is third on the list. First on the list is an animal welfare bill, restricting the age of importing animals, specifically importing…

Geeking It Up – Solar/Battery System

Last year, I decided to get a home battery system. According to Octopus Energy, my supplier, I use about 7-13kWh of electricity a day, excluding the electricity used to charge my car. I am on the Intelligent Octopus Go Tariff. My day-time electricity costs just under 30p/kWh, but between 11:30pm and 5:30pm it drops to just 7.5p/kWh (Intelligent also includes some bonus charging, but let's ignore…

GADGET – EUFY CLEAN X8 PRO SES

I bought a basic Eufy G40+ Robovac in November, then bought a more sophisticated X8 Pro model in December, because of a good price, and additional features.

Garden Refresh

Over the last couple of years, my back garden has involved a battle against the weeds; a battle which I admit I have been fighting half-heartedly. When everything is good out there, I enjoy spending time planting stuff and (weather permitting) sitting out there. But once I let it get out of control, it was just depressing. Worst of all, the pointing started to go between the pavers, allowing weeds…
