“I was just thinking that if a shark came to this beach, those people would not stand a chance.”
Strange way to answer a simple “Hi,” but everything was strange about Aqua.
Breeze danced in her hair. Ocean moved with her breath. She never seemed fully tethered to the earth.
On those beaches in Thailand, she became my best friend.
Then she was gone like a secret broken.
Next year she was back, and with a blink gone again.
Over the years I stopped trying to understand, accepting the fact that between late January and February when the stars are just right, I’ll get to see my friend.
