The bralette, the garment of the 2010s

If any garment defined the early 2000s it was the low-rise jean. These pants, canonically $200 (outrageous-seeming and near-unprecedented at the time, but gettable used or discount-store’d for far less), were retroactively blamed for y2k eating disorders, as though body standards hadn’t been stricter-than-strict in the 1990s, 1980s, and all the way back to the 1920s, without Seven For All Mankind even existing. They did dig into the hips in a way unflattering to hip-havers.
