One Republic take three

Our first big concert together as a family was One Republic, back in 2017 in Denver. We saw them again in 2023 in Mönchengladbach (though Clare was replaced by Sadie, who was visiting us it was her first big concert). Alice and Spencer recently visited me in Germany; Alice noticed that they were playing Continue reading "One Republic take three"

Fitz and the Tantrums

Last Saturday we went to see Fitz and the Tantrums as a family. They were one of the bands we saw at our first big concert as a family in 2017. For Christmas, Alice got us tickets to see them again. What a great present! She made great cards that said in 40 days and Continue reading "Fitz and the Tantrums"

Merry Christmas 2025

After much time apart the last several months, all four Fedibbletys found themselves in Würselen by December 24th. Alice spent the evening with the Hermanns. Clare, Rob, and Spencer watched a fun new Christmas movie, Secret Santa. Alice woke us up at 8 a.m. on Christmas morning. We opened our presents by the fire, then Continue reading "Merry Christmas 2025"

Baking bread again

Clare recently decided to try making sourdough bread after disappointment with American bread compared to German bread. Before I had fatherly duties, I baked bread weekly for about ten years. Much to my surprise, I have forgotten much of what I knew about it, but decided to try to help Clare out. I discovered it Continue reading "Baking bread again"

Creative and Thankful

Alice recently had a tonsil abscess, which caused her lots of pain, doctors visits, and missed school. She started to get bored, which inspired her creative side. She worked on several creative projects, which I find really impressive, because I am not very visually artistic or creative at all. She graciously said I could post Continue reading "Creative and Thankful"

Big fat juicy worms

Today as I was power washing the concrete edge of our yard, several worms came out to see what was going on. Having worms in our yard is a good thing. It means that the lawn is healthy. If I was a fisherman, I would not have to buy worms, I could simply dig in Continue reading "Big fat juicy worms"

Pictures in the sky

Saturday afternoon I was feeling lazy. I was relaxing on the couch watching tv. It had been raining most of the day. I looked out the window and saw a rainbow. I quickly grabbed my phone to take a picture, and then I decided to go on a walk while the sun was shining. It Continue reading "Pictures in the sky"

Fall flowers

We planted these flowers at the last minute before one of the big parties the kids had this past summer. I am pretty certain we bought them at the grocery store right next to our house for a couple euros. They were already in bloom at that time. I thought they would look nice for Continue reading "Fall flowers"

Vegetarian Pho

Pho is a fantastic winter dish. I particularly like soup in the winter. It warms up the whole body. Pho stems from Vietnam. If you want to make it well, I recommend getting ingredients at an Asian grocery store, particularly for the garnishes like bean sprouts, fresh mint, and Thai basil. Without the garnishes, Pho Continue reading "Vegetarian Pho"

Autumn Leaves

I highly recommend listening to the jazz standard Autumn Leaves while reading this post. The version you choose is totally up to you. There are hundreds of different recordings, including many great ones. I am currently listening to a recording by Eva Cassidy, which is a very slow and haunting rendition, which Clare introduced me Continue reading "Autumn Leaves"
