you have to want it as badly as you breathe

When was the last time sleep refused you?

You lie there with your eyes squeezed shut, like pressure alone could force your body into rest. But it doesn’t work. It never does. Your mind keeps moving even when everything stops, louder than your body. It loops through thoughts that refuse to settle. An endless marathon running in circles you never agreed to compete in.

At some point, the fight in you seizes, despite how badly you want the fire extinguished.

When morning comes, it doesn’t feel like a pause. It feels like a continuation. You’re awake before you can grasp, and there’s a list somewhere— on paper, on your phone, in your head— of all the things you said you would do, things you still haven’t done.

You relish rest, as a lover wants what is theirs. But something in you resists it. It is that violent fear of staying the same. Of remaining here, exactly where you are.

A lot of ambition feels like a lot of punishment, because you enter the same place again.

You enter the waiting room.

The in-between of who you are and who you are desperately trying to become.

In that room, there is no clarity. There is no clean beginning or ending. Just intensity. For some people, that force looks like structure and discipline every day. For others, it looks inconsistent, fragmented, uncertain.

It’s easy to assume one is doing more than the other.

But what if both are simply different ways of surviving the same desire?

There is no single strategy. No universal path for achieving. The only constant is wanting it enough to keep returning to it, even when your life does not look like a straight line.

You don’t “find time.” You create it where you can. And you don’t punish yourself when life interrupts you, because life is not designed to be obedient.

You find a way that fits your reality. You find a door that leads you closer to yourself, even if it doesn’t look like anyone else’s path.

Success does not arrive in one shape. It does not look the same for everyone.

And maybe that’s the real weight of it: it’s not enough to just want it.

You have to want it like breath.

Because breathing is not something you negotiate with. It is not something you schedule or earn. It is something that continues whether you are trying or not. It is something you never falter from, something you believe in the face of doubt.

And the only way to want something that deeply is to stop abandoning yourself every time it gets difficult, to stay with yourself long enough to become the person you are desperately trying to reach.
