Wow…this month really got away from me!!! I guess this will be more like recap news updates than looking ahead - but its been an exciting month so I’m excited to share what we’ve been up to.

May started with a whirlwind - if you missed it on social media, I worked my first Met Gala!!! I’ve been tailoring with The Zaks Team since February, and for the past 4 months, every day has been a new adventure. I’d love to share more about the experience in a deep dive - if you’re interested, let me know in the comments what you’d like to know!

In between the Met and my next big fashion industry adventure, I have a block of 50 days. (well, now down to just 36!) Once I had recovered, I literally brain dumped everything I wanted to get done in those 50 days, estimated how many days each thing would take me to complete, and made myself a bingo board so that I could choose a project every day to tackle and check everything off the list. It’s going well so far!!

Still a lot to get done, but I’m finding this to be a good strategy to hold myself accountable. I opted for the bingo board as opposed to a more set schedule because I wanted to keep things flexible - jobs come in last minute, deadlines change, and I like to go with the flow, so this format feels perfect for me.

Classes have been a bit slower lately since my schedule has been a little less predictable. I have just one on the calendar right now - see below!

If you already took the Patternmaking Masterclass, I have more good news! We’re also offering a Patternmaking 102 course - where we will cover sewing, fitting, and adjusting your pattern so that you have a completed set of blocks that fit you perfectly. Come with self-drafted blocks that you finished after Patternmaking 101, or bring your closest size set from my shop.

It’s happening!!! It’s well underway - I have about 1/3 of the footage filmed, and have been slowly working through editing. On my 50 day bingo board I’ve allocated 5 full days to working on it, and I feel like I can get it done if not very close. Stay tuned!!

(cora is the name of my in progress collection. this is her update space:)

BEADED FLOWER DRESS IS DONE!!! I tried it on my friend Sophie and it was literal perfection. I am so so happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to see and share it fully styled.

I’ve moved onto a new piece!!! This whole collection is built around textile art and exploring different fabric manipulation techniques - and this one is very much inspired by the work of Katrina Sanchez. When I saw one of her textile wall hangings on Pinterest, I immediately felt like I needed to wear it - so this piece is a bit of a reinterpretation in my medium :)

I spent way too much money on the thickest, chunkiest tube yarn I could find and I am now in the process of weaving it into a jacket and pants set. it’s looking so fun so far, and I’m so happy to be working with giant materials this time as opposed to the tiniest beads of all time - it’s exciting to get to see the progress so much faster!!

My goal is to finish this piece by the end of the month, or a few days after - I think it’ll take me another 4-5 days of work, as long as I don’t run out of yarn!!!

Thanks for reading and see you next week <3
