The internet is losing its mind over the Barbault basket. Something wonderful for humanity, they’re saying. A gift, a relaunch, the sky handing us a better world at the end of July. And honestly? They’re not wrong. I’m not here to argue with the good part. I just want you to know the thing has a past and a future, and both of them are long, so settle in. I told you I’d walk you through this. Here we go. Just know it’s going to get a little detailed. That’s the deal.
Let me back up a second for anyone who hasn’t been drowning in this online. The basket is a shape in the sky. Four of the slow planets fall into soft aspect with each other, the easy angles, the trines and sextiles, and they arrange themselves into a kind of cradle or hammock, about half the zodiac wide.
Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries, and Uranus in Gemini sit there holding the base of it, and then Jupiter swings into Leo and stands directly across from Pluto, and that opposition closes the shape into a basket. That’s the whole picture everybody’s excited about. Four heavyweight planets holding hands across the sky at the same time, which doesn’t happen often, and when it does the old tradition reads it as one of the kinder things the sky knows how to do. Named after André Barbault, a French astrologer who read the world through the heavy, slow-moving planets, and got a lot right doing it, the 2020 pandemic among them. Someone who gave real weight to this field and left it richer than he found it. A name that deserves respect.
And here’s the first thing worth being clear about, because the internet blurs it. The basket as a picture, all four corners lined up at once, is short. It’s Jupiter that completes it, and Jupiter’s the fast one of the group, so the exact shape only holds for a few weeks around July 20th, and then Jupiter moves on and the picture comes apart. But the three slow planets underneath don’t move. That base has been forming for years and it holds for years more. So the basket flashes, but what it’s sitting on, and what it stirs up, runs long. Keep that split in your head, because it’s the whole story.
Here’s what I actually want to talk about. In the last few years we’ve been going through a collective shift in consciousness, and don’t tell me you haven’t felt it. And no, I don’t mean quantum consciousness, timelines splitting, none of that. I mean the thing you can hear at a kitchen table, in ordinary conversations, and you can watch it multiply in the comments. What we treat as power is changing all the way down. Status, money, fame, a big name, a big platform, the ones we used to look up to just because they were up there, all of it. The leaders, the idols, the people we handed our trust and our attention to without really asking why. We’re starting to sort out who actually earns it and who was just standing in the light. And instead of falling in behind somebody, we’re choosing to tend to ourselves first, and then to the people around us. That’s the real move underneath all of it.
I’ll walk you through it. But this story goes back further than that. So let me take you back.
Going into 2020, a lot of us saw it coming. Most astrologers did, me included. And no, not in some mystical way. It honestly wasn’t hard to read.
Saturn and Pluto were about to meet in Capricorn, and Capricorn is the system. The structure. The whole thing a society agrees to stand on. When those two get together there, it’s already a bad sign. And right next to them sat Jupiter, which takes whatever it touches and makes it too much. The eclipses that year were on the Capricorn-Cancer axis. The South Node was in Capricorn too, and I don’t know how we forget to mention that part, because the South Node is the drain, the thing being emptied out. So the two heaviest planets came down right on the sign that was already being emptied. The year was wall to wall retrogrades. All of it crowding into one year with Pluto in the lead role, and when Pluto has the lead role, something foundational comes down. None of that was prophecy. It was just reading the room.
So it came down.
And here’s the part we skip. Same as I said about the basket, the slow planets don’t land on a date, their effects crawl out over years. 2020 wasn’t a day. COVID wasn’t 2019. The virus showed up on a date, fine, but the money and the grief and the thing it did to our nervous systems, that’s still going. You do know we’re still walking around in a kind of collective PTSD from all of it, right? I’ve said this before. We lost the world we had before 2019 and we never held a funeral for it. We just kept scrolling. I’m not saying that to blame anybody. Sometimes a person just wants to forget. That’s all it is. But it matters here, because it’s the whole key to what happens next.
Because right at the close of that same year, the sky started building the thing that’s replacing it. End of 2020, Jupiter and Saturn met in Aquarius, first time there in a couple hundred years, and that cracked the door to the sign that runs on the many instead of the few. This is the Age of Aquarius everybody keeps invoking, it was two planets opening a door. Then the real switch flipped in 2023, when Pluto stepped into Aquarius for the first time. That’s when it started moving for real. And notice what landed right around then. AI blew wide open. All of a sudden the thing that wires us all together, that decides how information reaches us and how we talk to each other, was everywhere at once.
But I’m not really here to talk about technology.
Because there’s something else Aquarius has been doing these last few years, quieter and bigger, and it’s the thing I actually want you to see. It’s been changing how we hold power. There was a time, and it wasn’t long ago, when power and money and fame just automatically pulled respect out of people. That was the deal. And somewhere in here the deal started breaking. You see it all over the internet, the comments, the posts, because it’s a real thing and it’s happening right now.
The main reason is exposure. Social media put all of it right in front of us, all the time, up close. Add the income gap getting wider and less hidden every year, and hope for life getting thinner, because every time something good starts, here comes another wave, and we’ve been living in that instability for years now. Wave, then another wave. Nervous systems are cooked. People need self-compassion just to make it through a Tuesday, and the world keeps pushing the other way. So what’s a person supposed to do with all that.
The fridge is empty, somebody opens their phone, and there’s a celebrity in Ibiza. A tech guy on a yacht the size of a small country. A politician on a stage promising the same things they promised last time. And people go, okay, cool, but what does that do for me. And they’ve got every right to ask it. Because somewhere every single day somebody’s getting crushed so somebody else can have a nice time, and everyone has a limit. The cup filled up and now it’s running over. The stuff that used to look powerful, look cool, look worth trusting, just doesn’t hit that way anymore. We finally got to the question. Okay. But what have you actually done. For me, for anyone, for the world.
And here’s what’s underneath all of it. People are starting to see, really see, that nobody’s coming to save us. No celebrity, no founder, no leader with a podium. That sounds bleak the first time it lands, but it isn’t. Because the second you stop waiting for the savior, you start learning to save yourself, and then the people right around you. That’s the turn. That’s the whole thing.
That’s the demolition from 2020, still going, still working on us, hitting harder now in the sixth year. And this spring it got its loudest signal yet. On February 20th, Saturn and Neptune met at zero degrees Aries. A few months back. And this is the one most of us astrologers had been circling for years as the real event, not the basket. The true reset, the actual zeroing-out. Look at what’s packed into it. These two point straight at the collective, because Neptune is the collective, that’s just what Neptune is. And they met on the very first degree of the very first sign, the reset point of the whole zodiac. You do not get a louder signal for starting over than that.
And here’s how the two of them split the work, because they’re doing opposite jobs in the same spot. Neptune’s the one dissolving. It’s been quietly thinning out the old figures, the leaders and the idols and the gurus, washing the shine off them until you can see straight through. That hollow feeling when someone you used to look up to suddenly seems small, that’s Neptune, doing what it does, taking the solidity out of the thing. And Aries is the sign of the self, of I am. So while Neptune melts the old idols down, Saturn’s asking us to build something in their place, and the whole time it’s in Aries, all of us are learning a kind of constructive selfishness. Becoming our own leader instead of waiting around for one. All those figures we used to follow, the ones with the megaphone telling us where to go, they’re getting hollowed out from one side and outgrown from the other.
I said this a while back and I’ll say it again, because we’re right in the middle of it now. The Age of Aquarius was never about finding a more charismatic figure to march behind. It’s about each of us learning to be our own individual, to follow our own self, and then to bring that self to the group and move with some sense of community. Not worshipping the ones up on the stage. Standing next to each other instead. That’s the real assignment underneath everything, and this stretch of sky is walking us straight into it.
Now watch where the sky puts all of this. End of July, the lunar nodes move onto the Leo-Aquarius axis, and the nodes are the compass. North Node into Aquarius, which is where we’re being pulled, toward community, toward the many. South Node into Leo, which is what we’re being asked to set down. And Leo is the spotlight, the one out front getting looked at, the whole idea that mattering means being seen.
Pluto’s already sitting in Aquarius. Jupiter just crossed into Leo and it’s heading for an opposition to Pluto, which is one of the basket’s own angles. So Jupiter, which blows up whatever it touches, is going to sit on that South Node in Leo for about a year and make the old thing enormous. The old idea of power. Big, loud, impossible to look away from, right as we’re learning to look away from it. And the South Node is the drain. So the sky is inflating the exact thing it’s asking us to empty out. That’s the whole engine of this moment, the spotlight getting brighter and less convincing at the very same time.
And none of it lands in three days at the end of July, no matter how loud the internet gets about that date. Think of the basket less as a switch that flips the world over and more as a push on a current that was already moving, the waking up that’s been underway for years now, us getting more transparent, pulling toward smaller circles, wanting to be some actual use to the people around us. That’s the part I think Barbault meant about humanity moving forward. July leans on the gas, that’s all. So no, the world doesn’t get saved this summer. I’m sorry. But there’s light at the end of this, and I want to be straight with you about the tunnel first.
2028 is the one to watch.
Nobody’s going to wake up in a few days to a better planet. But the things that should already be history, the old scripts about leaders and idols, are going to surface so loudly that we stop being able to stomach them, and we start demanding the change at the root. It’s coming. Just not on your schedule. First we spend until 2028 pushing the old guard toward the exit.
And then 2028 into 2029 gets genuinely hard, and I’m not going to wrap it in cotton. Saturn moves into Taurus and catches up to Chiron, and the two of them meet, and both of them square Pluto in Aquarius. That’s a big deal, and I’m not going to shrink it or dress it up, because there’s nothing soft about it. It’s the first square off the 2020 conjunction, the first real reckoning with everything that got set in motion back then. And it’s happening in Taurus, which is money, which is the body, which is what you’re actually worth. With Chiron sitting right there, the old wound in it.
And here’s the part that makes it a real signal instead of just a hard transit. In 2020 the South Node sat in Capricorn, and we emptied the system out, tore the structure down to the studs. In early 2028, right before Saturn crosses into Taurus, the North Node moves into Capricorn, the same sign from the opposite pole. So the thing we were draining in 2020 turns into the thing we’re being pulled toward in 2028, and this time it’s not to tear it down but to build it back. The demolition had an instruction folded inside it the whole time, and this is where it opens.
That’s where the collective really cracks, because the easy angles never change anybody, it’s always the hard ones that do. And the economic picture around there doesn’t look good, you don’t need a chart to see that part coming. But that’s exactly where we finally understand what to value and what to quit chasing. You can’t eat money. We’re going to feel that one in the body. What actually holds you up is the quiet, the health, the ground under your feet, the people you move through life with, going back to something simpler. And all the showing off, all the greed, all the buy-more-feel-nothing of it, we’re going to see what it actually cost us, and Saturn’s going to carve the lesson in right down to the bone. And that’s when the good thing actually starts for us, when we turn back toward the simple, toward what was essential all along.
People don’t learn it until they’ve seen the worst of it, that’s just how we’re built. It doesn’t go away. But afterward, we understand.
So there’s light at the end of the tunnel. There genuinely is. A while back I told you what comes next doesn’t arrive as a gift, it arrives as a construction site. Loud, dusty, exhausting, everybody arguing about the blueprint. I still mean every word. There’s a lot of work in front of us. And you don’t need some enormous meaning-of-my-life mission to do your part. Everyone taking the trash out in front of their own door would just about do it. There’s so much to actually do. What does the world want from me today, and what can I give it right now, with what’s in my hands. Ask only that. Keep it that simple, and the biggest relief you’ve felt in a long time comes with it, because that’s what living is. There is just the work.
I asked you this once and I’m asking again, because I can see it needs asking again. Not the grand plan. Not the five-year vision. What’s the honest brick you’re setting down right now, this week, in your own corner. What did you stop worshipping. What did you finally decide isn’t worth your attention anymore.
Tell me. I actually want to know.
Now, everything I just walked you through is the collective story, the weather all of us are standing in together. But it lands somewhere specific in your own chart, and where it lands depends on your rising sign. So for my paid subscribers, this is where I take the whole thing personal, and show you exactly which rooms of your life these four planets are moving through, sign by sign, so you can find yourself in it.
