إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
The passing of Br. Yahya Emerick is indeed a sad occasion. Although I don’t know him personally, I have interacted with him on a few occasions regarding some of his projects, most notably his creative books for Islamic school teachers and homeschools.
For those who are not familiar with him or his work, he is perhaps one of the more accomplished Islamic workers - having dedicated the past 36 years since his conversion at the age of 19 in 1989. He has written over 50 books and was engaged in a number of new projects.
His distinction lies in his ability to speak the language of America - and by that I mean his understanding of the culture and nuances of American thinking that lend to his articulation of Islamic concepts, values and teachings that resonate with the new generation of Muslims.
Among the many works cited are his translation of the Qur’an and his widely acclaimed book “A Complete Idiot’s Guide to Understanding Islam”.
May Allah bless him for his diligent efforts in spreading the message of Islam, forgive him for his mistakes and shortcomings and grant him Jannah.
