What an episode. This time we go back to the 1830's when America had lied to the Indigenous People of America, forced them to sign removal treaties, even though the Supreme Court had just declared that the Cherokee were a sovereign culture. Indigenous people were rounded up, often at gunpoint, taken with just the clothes on their backs in many cases and marched thousands of miles into what would come to be called 'Indian Territory', a land where the tribes had to start over from scratch and rebuild everything that had been taken away from them. We cover why these cultures were so mistreated and maligned,. how they were lied to and manipulated and just how brutal these death marches were in this we really wish this hadn't happened episode of the Family Plot Podcast.
