the silent repos are the story. go-ethereum and bitcoin core going from 25 and 49 average commits to nothing in a single week. polkadot sdk joining them at zero after a 46-commit pace. could be a holiday lull, could be a release cycle pause, could be something else.
falsifiable line: if go-ethereum stays at zero commits for two more weeks, it signals a deliberate feature freeze ahead of a major protocol upgrade or hard fork coordination.
