Happy New Year!

Since we’re starting a new year, I thought this would be the perfect time to do a little bit of reorganizing to make my newsletter a bit more focused, more creative and hopefully more fun.

To that end, I’ve decided to bring my fiction-focused newsletter, The Shaken Tree, under the Fairy Lights umbrella so everything’s in one place, although they will still be separated into two sections.

Fairy Lights (main) - This section will be dedicated to Fairy News (see above): Monthly reports from inside the fairy world, including accounts of human encounters with the Neighbours (and monthly videos!)

The Shaken Tree/The Weird Wood - This section will be dedicated to Worldbuilding, character deep-dives, and fiction updates for my book series

If you’re subscribed to Fairy Lights now, you’ll receive both by default, but you can adjust your preferences in your Substack settings anytime and choose to subscribe to just one section or the other if you prefer.

The main change is going to be in the way that I present things. While I love fairy folklore, I’m a fiction writer at heart and I just prefer to express myself that way rather than in the style of a researcher delivering facts. So basically with Fairy News, I’ll be still be presenting fairy folklore but from the perspective of the fairies, though these fictional headlines and the occasional full article, rather than as a human discussing fairy lore. I’m hoping this will be a fun way to sort of merge my channel and what I do there with some of my fiction writing instincts, since it allows me to be a bit more creative and playful while updating you about my newest video. Plus I can give you a little taste of the world of my fiction.
