This week marks an exciting milestone for Fair Care Idaho.
After months of planning, writing questions, gathering community feedback, and preparing materials, we’re officially beginning outreach to candidates running for office across Idaho.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be contacting candidates for federal, statewide, and legislative races to learn where they stand on the issues that matter most to our community.
Our goal is simple: to help voters make informed decisions before Election Day.
Every election shapes the future of disability policy in Idaho.
The people elected this November will make decisions that affect Medicaid, Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), caregiver workforce shortages, access to care, disability rights, education, and so much more.
Rather than guessing where candidates stand, we’re asking them directly.
Beginning in September, we’ll start publishing candidate responses on a rolling basis.
To make the information easy to navigate, we’ll organize responses into three groups:
Federal candidates
Statewide offices
The Idaho Legislature, organized into six regions so families can quickly find the candidates running in their own communities.
We hope this becomes a valuable resource for Idaho voters as Election Day approaches.
As we move into summer, keep an eye out for opportunities to meet candidates in your own community.
County fairs, parades, town halls, coffee chats, community festivals, service club meetings, and other local events often provide some of the best opportunities to have real conversations with the people asking for your vote.
Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself.
Ask the questions that matter most to your family.
And most importantly, share your story.
Personal experiences have a way of making policy real, and those conversations can stay with candidates long after the event is over.
