Non-Compeed - blisters from sh#posting.
Yet another bot account seeded a nothingburger this week. JW Anderson, famously releasing co-branded lines with Uniqlo since 2017, was supposedly poised to work with Inditex’s Zara.
Aside from a very successful long-term collaboration, new releases (never mind a potential non-compete), making a few more bucks as one of the most celebrated creative directors does not warrant JW Anderson’s association with big, bad, and bills-paying fast fashion.
Inditex has mostly hired creative directors who are a little past their prime, and JW Anderson does not fit that profile, for now.
Aaron Levine - dadwear darling
Anna Sui - recreated a four-piece look for Zara’s 50th anniversary
John Galliano with a two-year contract
Marisa Berenson - granddaughter of designer Elsa Schiaparelli
Narciso Rodriguez - he does far more than the Shiseido beauty partnership may suggest
Samuel Ross - founder of SR_A and A-Cold-Wall*
Stefano Pilati (YSL, 2000–2012 and Zegna, 2012–2016, where he invented the Triple Stitch)
William Chavarria - US casualwear legend
To think that the JW Anderson brand or the man himself, while riding high as the creative director of Dior, would join Zara for a collab, does not make a lot of sense, yet everyone and their mother mindlessly parroted an anon’s post. In fact, so many reputable accounts and outlets picked it up that JW Anderson’s PR felt the need to comment on it.
We have hit the point where very little critical thinking is going into online engagement - or it’s all bots, and humans get caught in the crossfire of metric-stashing PR campaigns.

The 7 best value linen shirts

The best bang-for-buck ratio is what most purchase decisions come down to, and that’s why these shirts made the list
The Polo Bear was once a somewhat rare sighting, but it’s now everywhere. While the now $398 that Polo Ralph Lauren is charging for its cotton sweaters has certainly helped it to maintain an aspirational quality, you can see them virtually every day, everywhere on everyone. Which begs the question: is this preppy’s Birkin moment ? Will those that once collected the bear eventually put wearing it on pause because of its ubiquity ? I’ve found four Polo Bear SKUs, at three different price points in a small department store the other day. Polo.com has infinitely more options, some at higher price points and in cashmere. And looking at other retailers and department stores, you should be able to wear a Polo Bear everyday of the week for about a month by picking from the current season’s collection alone as long as you change the base color and not the motif.
Which branded item is next on the chopping block ? The Birkin has reached saturation point, the Polo Bear is undoubtedly close to its peak, but which items do you see following them on the same trajectory ?
Rush content and literAIcy - multiple outlets picked up a tiny slop account that was thematically placed during rush week, in large parts because it plugged various brand names and replicated rush’s OOTD video format, a goldmine for brand placements. Nike, despite LinkedIn sh#tposters declaring its irrelevance, partnered with Arizona State University’s Delta Zeta for content featuring its Studio Fleece line (+5M views).
Indochino makes inroads- the mass-customization retailer is planning to open 10 new stores across the US
