I found this sequence of drawings I did on a sketchbook and posted online prior to going to San Diego back in 2017.
I just finished an issue of one of the projects I’m working on. I made my deadline and can relax for at least a week while the comic’s world turns their attention to San Diego. I’m not going this year. In fact, 2019 was the last time I’ve been there.
A part of me misses going to San Diego. That place holds a magical significance in my life, and even if conventions have changed a lot, and the World has changed a lot, and if I did go to San Diego it wouldn’t be like it once was, still going to San Diego meant I was chasing a dream, and every time I found myself there, I was living that dream.
I came to realize I’m still living the dream, but at a different pace. The journey continues, and as always, one must be present to see all the wonders that come your way as you carry on telling your story.
Be safe, be kind, be curious.
