AI educator gives hundreds of young people a taste of the world

One of the UK’s leading computing and AI educators is celebrating the remarkable success of a scheme that has enabled more than 500 students to participate in international work experience and cultural visits.

School of Coding & AI (SoC) has established itself as a leading provider of international learning opportunities through the Turing Scheme, the UK government’s global programme to study and work abroad. The scheme creates pathways for students to gain valuable professional experience while developing a deeper understanding of different cultures and global industries.

This year alone, more than 200 staff and students from SoC, which has campuses in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, will take part in international mobility visits to Spain, Dubai and India. 

This year's visits come at a time when the relationship between the UK and India is entering a new phase following the landmark UK-India Free Trade Agreement, which came into effect last month and is expected to strengthen economic ties, boost bilateral trade and support greater collaboration between the two countries. By giving students first-hand experience of working and living in India, SoC is helping to equip the next generation with the global outlook and cultural understanding needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected economy.

The Turing placements combine overseas travel with meaningful career-related work experience, enabling students to explore industries linked to their future ambitions. Participants develop confidence, communication skills, adaptability and independence while gaining first-hand experience of working in international environments.

The Turing Scheme, funded by the Department for Education, supports UK education providers in delivering international study and work placements that enhance skills, improve employability and expand opportunities for students from all backgrounds.
