Ready Or Not is pretty good.

I watched the first Ready Or Not movie earlier this week. I had never even heard of this movie until I saw the trailer for the sequel that is out in theaters now, so I was somewhat surprised that it existed. Then a friend mentioned that it was made by the same guys who did Abigail, which I really enjoyed when I watched it last year. So I decided to check this one out.

And you know what? It was a lot of fun. I was saying to that same aforementioned friend that I felt like Ready Or Not is kind of the same movie as Abigail except with some role-reversal (i.e., instead of one girl hunting down a bunch of people locked in a mansion, it’s a bunch of people hunting down one woman locked in a mansion). Both have the same horror/comedy vibe, which I generally don’t much go in for, but for some reason really works for me in these movies.

It’s not great filmmaking by any means, but it’s well-paced, it kept me guessing, the performances are good, and it kept me entertained. I genuinely appreciate low-stakes movies like this and I feel like there need to be more of them.
