Introduce yourself to the forum

Hi I'm Kelly, I'm an Aussie and my hubby is dual UK/Aussie as are our kids. We have lived in Australia all our married life and have decided to head to the UK to join hubby's family business. We are hoping to head over first week of March, so the last 3 months I have been madly selling off all our stuff, organising passports and trying to get my visa. Still waiting on the visa.... Hopefully will…

Are there jobs for Physician Assistants in the UK?

Hello, I'm thinking about retraining as a PA. Apparently they're known as Physician Associates in the UK. They work in hospitals, GP practices, and mental health services under the supervision of a senior doctor. Salaries typically start around £48,000 for newly qualified staff and can reach over £57,000 for experienced PAs, both are a higher band than nurses but they also undergo longer tuition…

South African passport renewal in UK- my experience

I’m a South African citizen with ILR in UK. I’d like to share my experience of applying for new passport here. You can apply for it at 3 VFS Global centres: Manchester, London, Edinburgh. Dept of Home Affairs launched new application process in June 2022, with VFS as official outsourcing partner. They promised this would speed up the wait times for new passports. Prior to that you had to apply via…

SMS Verification required to connect to public wifi?

My daughter will be arriving at Heathrow Airport from abroad with no roaming cellular service. Does registration for connecting to the free public wifi at Heathrow involve receiving a verification One-Time Code via Email or SMS? Because without active cellular service, she won't be able to get that code needed to connect to the free public wifi, and can't activate the UK eSIM to obtain a UK phone…

ILR set O payslip and bank statement

I just received my payslip today, 26 May, but on the top it says 31 May 2026. Now, I'll get paid on the 29th May. And I'll apply for my ILR set O on the 1st of June. Will this be an issue that the date on my payslip is 31 May and I am paid on 29th May?
