Bookshop Barnie, Tuesday 9th September, Zoom

I’m glad to say I’ll be participating in a Bookshop Barnie, a Battle of Ideas satellite event, debating the merits of The Progress Trap on the evening of Tuesday 9th September, starting at 7pm British Summer Time.

The Bookshop Barnie is an initiative of Austin Williams of the Future Cities Project, to bring people together and discuss new books. He told me that they used to take place in person, but the online format is in some ways preferable for allowing people from all over to participate.

I expect the format to be in line with the standard Battle of Ideas one, designed to encourage audience participation, so that would see me making a short initial presentation followed by questions from Austin and then over to everyone else.

I’m greatly looking forward to the event and expecting a proper grilling. As Austin says, “You DO NOT have to read this book in advance. Ben’s job is to convince you that that’d be a good idea. // Come along and give the debate both barrels.”
