In Issue #9 of The Jinx there’s an article called The Modernized Reading by Ted Annemann. In it he talks about an envelope that’s gimmicked so that you can read what someone has written on a card and put into the envelope.
I believe I first learned about this envelope idea from one of _______’s lectures at Penguin Magic. During the routine I put a face down card someone had written on into a coin envelope. And when he did so, the card got “stuck” for a moment and he had to fiddle with it in order for it to go all the way into the envelope. At the time I wondered what was going on because he was apparently just putting a card into an envelope. How could it get stuck?
Then I learned how to do the routine, and in practicing I discovered exactly how it could get stuck, because it happened to me. And I did NOT want that happening while performing the routine, so I took some envelopes and scissors down to the local coffee shop and played around until I figured it out. That 2-minute video will show you how to cut the window in your envelope so you never have to worry about the card “catching” on something.
