Police have launched an investigation after a car was deliberately set on fire in Carlton, Barnsley.
Officers from Barnsley North East Neighbourhood Policing Team were called to the scene after the vehicle was torched amid the extremely dry, hot weather conditions.
No one was injured and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control quickly, police said.
A spokesperson for Barnsley North East NPT said: "A little while ago our officers responded to a vehicle which had been set alight in Carlton.
"This was in the middle of our the heat wave and extremely dry weather we were experiencing. Luckily no one was hurt and the fire was contained quickly.
"This behaviour is unacceptable. Colleagues in the fire service are stretched as it is and if it wasn't for a prompt response, it could have been far worse.
"We have launched an investigation into what happened, and will be looking for those responsible."
