Brad Guigar · Evil Inc

As we come to the end of a long, hot summer, I got some pretty cool news. Evil Inc was nominated in the Best Humor Webcomic category of the ’Ringo Awards! Voting is now open to comics pros, and if you’re a qualified voter, I would greatly appreciate your consideration.

I’m up against the likes of Harley Quinn and Nightwing’s butt, so it’s definitely an uphill climb! Nonetheless, as an independent cartoonist, it feels really good to be nominated along with all of those big names from DC Comics.

Speaking of awards, I’ll be in Columbus, Ohio, next week for the 80th annual National Cartoonists Society conference and Reuben Awards. Evil Inc has been nominated in the Best Webcomic / Longform category, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed. This is my third nomination in four years, and I’m hoping the third time is the charm.

Dave and I will also be doing a live recording of our podcast, ComicLab, along with our guests Dee Fish, Jamar Nicholas, and Terri Libenson. Although conference-only tickets have sold out, the show will be livestreamed. We’re scheduled to go live at 2 p.m. on Thursday. I’ll share more information here when we have it.

If you’re in the Columbus area, make plans to stop by the Billy Ireland Library & Museum on August 8th from 1-5 p.m. It’s a free event, and I’ll be there sketching and signing along with a bunch of my pals from the NCS.

Speaking of friends, my friend and ComicLab co-host Dave Kellett is running a Kickstarter campaign for his new book, Anatomy of Monsters. If you’re a ComicLab Patreon backers, you’ve heard Dave and I pitching jokes back and forth for this collection. It’s going to be one of his best books ever. Trust me... you’re gonna want one of these.

Monster me!
