Emerging Technology Observatory · Emerging Technology Observatory

We are excited to announce an expanded, multi-university collaboration for AGORA. We will continue working with Purdue University’s Governance and Responsible AI Lab (GRAIL), who has been working with us on AGORA since the beginning. This collaboration will bring in teams from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s AI Risk Initiative and Carnegie Mellon University’s EncyclopAIdia team.

AGORA will continue to live on the Emerging Technology Observatory, and CSET will continue to host the underlying data infrastructure. GRAIL, the MIT AI Risk Initiative, and Carnegie Mellon University will contribute to expanding coverage and developing new methods for document sourcing, screening, and annotation to get more documents added in AGORA faster and with more information.

👉 AGORA is a collection of AI-related laws, regulations, standards, and similar documents. Each document in AGORA is either an entire law or a thematically distinct, AI-focused portion of a longer text. An AGORA document includes metadata, summaries, and thematic codes developed through rigorous annotation and validation processes. Thematic codes are organized under a taxonomy that consists of several dimensions, including risk factors and governance strategies.
