Opened the coffee bag from Burundi today. The beans looked dark. I was nervous.

I didn’t recall the grind setting for darker roasts, so I set the grinder to 10 and started. Puck prepped, locked and loaded, machine warmed. No brew.. I smiled and trashed the puck. Try again, I said to myself.

Set the grinder to 12, coarser. Puck prepped, locked and loaded. Both, machine and I were warm now.. a nice consistent brew with thick crema. I smiled, stirred, tasted a drop… shivers down the spine.

Yes, dark roast indeed. Quite dark. Time for ice and almond milk.

Mmm, that worked.
