Pete's Log: Increasing Verbosity

Entry #3053, (Cooking, Meta, Smokepacking)
(posted when I was 47 years old.)

During my May posting drought I also sort of slipped out of the habit of reading my On This Day, but I've gotten back into it and good thing too, lest I miss my most verbose day. Suddenly feel a strong need to keep the five (soon to be six) year streak of posting on June 13th alive. I wish I understood my brain.

It's been rainy lately, so we didn't get more chances to use the new griddle, but yesterday was nice so I made savory pancakes with chicken and veggies. Super tasty. Even Kiddo ate and enjoyed the pancakes. She's been getting less picky with her eating lately which feels nice. Our strategy of always asking her to try things but never forcing her to eat what she doesn't like seems to be working. For now at least.

I had also ordered a griddle accessory kit which conveniently arrived yesterday, and it was a treat to use. Cleanup after dinner was easy, feels like I'm getting everything dialed in. The next big thing on my griddle to-cook list is fried rice. I'm giddy to try it. Maybe even attempt an onion volcano.

Other than my brief experimentation with Infection, the esgeroth.org rewrite has been untouched for a couple months. But no longer. Inspired in part by AYRTABTU being part of the most verbose day, I've decided instead of worrying about my todo list or my test coverage, I'm going to try "living" in the new esgeroth.org for a bit, so instead of just uploading test photos to the new media library, I've actually uploaded a few albums. It's been fun actually looking at those photos again. And it's also a good exercise in finding the little things that are going to annoy me and fixing them.

I've also realized that looking at the admin page for the new esgeroth.org is a reassuring way to see that I've actually accomplished a lot already. (Not to mention an indicator this project might be out of control)

One last thing that is fitting for this day: I have on my desk an IP67 waterproof enclosure and some accessories and am hoping to revive the solar library. My new plan is to mount the battery and circuitry on the post and hope it is better shaded and gets less warm that way. I also found an IP67 rated USB extension thingy so I can plug in a power brick without even opening the box and in that way top up the battery on dark winter days. Wish me luck.
