Two quick shares today, and time is of the essence.
This NYTimes feature is making the rounds, and for good reason. We’re at war and we seem to be losing: ER visits for tick bites are the highest they’ve been since 2017. Ticks are expanding their range faster than public health systems can track them, and it’s not just Lyme anymore. Alpha-gal syndrome, the tick-triggered red meat allergy, is spreading right alongside it, as are a host of other autoimmune issues linked to Lyme. This isn’t a someday problem. It’s not an in-the-woods or in-the-Hamptons problem. It’s a today problem, every time you’re outside, and we need to be vigilant and start treating it as such.
