The International Day against Violence and Bullying at School, Including Cyberbullying, draws attention to the urgent need to make learning environments safe for every child and adolescent. Proclaimed by UNESCO Member States, it underscores that all forms of school-related violence – physical, psychological, or digital – violate the rights, health, and well-being of learners worldwide. This day calls for joint action from governments, educators, families, students, civil society, and the tech industry to prevent bullying, promote respect, and build inclusive and supportive schools where every young person can learn free from fear. It’s a reminder that ending violence in and through education is essential to shaping healthier, more equitable societies.

  Executive Director of European Digital Rights (EDRi) since November 2018. From 2013 to 2018, she was the Deputy Director of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR). Her previous assignments include leading the Open Society Foundations’ campaign on the reform of the European Court of Human Rights.   Clinical psychologist specializing in the care of victims of domestic violence. Children exposed to violence may suffer emotional, cognitive and relational consequences. These experiences often manifest themselves at school in the form of difficulties concentrating, learning or regulating emotions, but also sometimes in aggressive behaviour or the reproduction of violence.

  Journalist and film-maker Florence Hainaut regularly speaks out on the subject of cyberviolence – particularly against women – notably in schools, or to the European Parliament, UN staff and journalists’ federations. She co-directed the documentary #SalePute (Dirty Whore) on misogynistic cyberbullying and has published a book on the same subject.
