Suz Ashley · Energy@Play ~ Play With Possibility

Let’s acknowledge living at a higher vibration is not easy. It’s not the path of least resistance. Staying low feels comfortable, familiar, even safe. The couch of low-frequency living has really good throw pillows. But somewhere inside you, there’s a pull. A quiet, persistent knowing that you’re meant for more than comfortable numbness. That’s why you’re here.

This is not a post about being relentlessly positive or performing spiritual wellness for Insta. This is about the real, gritty, sometimes exhausting work of choosing, again and again, to live from a higher place. To feel more, surrender more, and trust more. And yes, to mess up sometimes and start again.

What follows is an invitation. Not a prescription. Not a checklist. Simply some honest reflection on what it actually looks like to elevate ~ one breath, one choice, one curious question at a time.

Here’s something nobody puts on a vision board: up-leveling feels weird. It’s disorienting. When you start vibrating at a higher frequency ~ genuinely, not performatively ~ things shift around you. Old habits feel hollow. Certain relationships start to chafe. Patterns you didn’t even know you had suddenly become very loud, very visible, and very much valid information.

And then there are the clues. The emotions that show up uninvited and make themselves at home in your chest: judgment, guilt, and shame. These three are not your enemies. They are, in fact, your most honest messengers. When you feel that sharp flicker of judgment toward someone, or toward yourself, that’s a nudge. When shame settles in heavy and quiet, that’s an invitation to look closer. When guilt loops on repeat in your mind, something is asking to be examined.

The practice isn’t to push these feelings away or spiritually bypass them with a crystal and a mantra. The practice is to pause. To get genuinely curious. To ask, without judgment: What is actually going on here? What does this feeling want me to know? Your emotional landscape is data ~ rich, nuanced, personal data about where you are and where you want to go.

Ask: What part of myself am I seeing in this person? Judgment is often a mirror pointing back at something unresolved in us ~ a fear, a desire, a wound we haven’t yet tended.

Ask: Is this shame mine, or did I inherit it? Much of what we carry as shame was handed to us long before we had the words to question it. You are allowed to set it down.

Ask: Is this guilt pointing toward a genuine value I hold, or is it the voice of someone else’s expectations? There’s a difference between moral compass and emotional punishment.

Heart coherence ~ that state where your heart rhythm flows in smooth, harmonious waves ~ is one of the most tangible, physiological expressions of living at a higher vibration. Research from the HeartMath Institute suggests that when we’re in a state of appreciation, genuine calm, or love, our hearts actually communicate this to the rest of our nervous system. You can literally feel the difference in your body. That flutter of warmth in the chest? That’s not just poetic. That’s your heart doing its thing.

Two words that get thrown around a lot in spiritual spaces: trust and surrender. They sound beautiful on a linen wall hanging. They are considerably harder to live in the middle of a Thursday when everything feels uncertain and your brain is running seventeen tabs of worst-case scenarios.

But here’s what trust actually means in practice: it’s not blind faith that everything will be perfect. It’s a choice ~ made repeatedly, sometimes moment to moment ~ to believe that the universe is not indifferent to your becoming. That there’s a current moving beneath the surface of your life, and it’s carrying you somewhere good, even when you can’t see the shore.

Surrender, similarly, is not giving up. It’s releasing the exhausting grip of control. Think about how much energy gets poured into worrying ~ over circumstances, about other people, or yourself. With perfecting every corner of a life that will never be perfectly controllable. With managing outcomes that were never entirely yours to manage. What if you redirected even a fraction of that energy toward what actually lights you up? What turns you on? What makes you feel most alive and most yourself?

  • Controlling outcomes you can’t predict

  • Perfecting things that are already good enough

  • Worrying over people, situations, or yourself

  • Replaying what you can’t change

  • Seeking approval before you begin

  • What genuinely lights you up and fills you

  • Desires and passions that feel like yes

  • People who energize rather than drain you

  • Places and experiences that expand you

  • The next small, aligned step ~ just one

The things that light you up? They’re not indulgences. They’re not distractions from the real work. They are the real work. Following what genuinely moves you is how you magnetize the experiences, people, and places that keep you moving forward. Your joy is a compass, not a detour. Let go a little. Then a little more. You don’t have to release everything at once, simply one small fist at a time.

Here is something quite revolutionary: most of us spend enormous amounts of time thinking about what we should want, what makes practical sense, what others expect ~ and very little time simply asking ourselves what we genuinely desire right now. Not in five years. Not in the abstract. Right now, in this body, on this ordinary afternoon.

Your brain is magnificent. It is exceptional at logistics, at executing tasks, at holding a checklist and getting through it. But your brain is a lousy decision-maker when it comes to the things that matter most ~ because decisions about how to actually live your life don’t live in the prefrontal cortex. They live in your heart, your gut, your intuition. The quiet knowing that doesn’t always have a reason, but is always right.

So here’s a practice that sounds almost embarrassingly simple: start asking yourself small questions and actually listening for the answer. Not reasoning it out. Not weighing pros and cons. Simply asking, going still for a breath, and noticing what arises.

Italian or Mexican tonight? Massage or Reiki session? Berries or a banana? Write or paint? Dance or yoga? These small questions train the muscle of intuitive listening. The answer often comes faster than you’d expect ~ a slight lean, a quiet pull, a yes that arrives before your mind can interfere.

Do I desire a salad right now? Do I want to rewatch “Heated Rivalry?” Do I want a Reiki session? Do I want to read tonight? These are not trivial questions. They’re repetitions. Each one builds the pathway between you and your own inner knowing. You’re developing a language with yourself.

Pay attention when something nudges you to take a different route to work or the yoga studio. Notice when a name pops into your head right before that person texts you. And when you ask for a parking spot close to the entrance because you’re running late ~ notice if you get it. Really notice. Let it mean something.

Your intuition isn’t a mystical gift reserved for certain people. It’s an ability you already have ~ and like any skill, it deepens with practice and attention. The more you listen, the louder it gets.

Here’s what I want you to sit with for a moment: the fact that you’re reading this ~ that something in you was drawn to these ideas, that you felt even a flicker of recognition somewhere in these pages ~ that’s not an accident. That’s your higher self saying, yes, this way. You are already in the current. You are already elevating.

It doesn’t always feel like elevation. Some days it feels like confusion. Some days it feels like grief for the version of yourself who is quietly falling away to make room for who you’re becoming. Some days the low-vibration couch wins, and that’s okay too. The path isn’t linear. The spiral keeps circling upwords, but each time you return to these questions ~ What do I actually desire? What lights me up? What is this feeling trying to tell me? ~ you’re a little more fluent in the language of your own soul.

The great news, and I mean genuinely great, worth pausing and letting it land, is that we are elevating. Collectively, individually, imperfectly, beautifully. The fact that these conversations are happening, that you are seeking, that you’re willing to feel the discomfort of growth rather than numb it out, that matters. You matter. Your vibration matters, not merely to your own life, but to the field around you. Every person who chooses to live from a higher place shifts something.

The universe has your back. Choose this belief, not because it’s provable, but because living as if it’s true opens doors that cynicism keeps shut.

Let go of the worry. Release perfection. Redirect your energy toward what genuinely moves you. The path forward is paved with your actual desires, not your obligations.

Ask yourself the small questions. Follow the quiet nudges. Take the different route. Notice the parking spot. Your intuition is already talking. You’re simply learning to hear it.

Every single moment is an entry point. You don’t need a new year, a Monday, or a perfect set of conditions. Right now counts. This breath counts. You’ve got this!

The low-frequency days are part of the story, too. They make the high ones meaningful. Keep going, not because it’s always easy, but because you are worth the effort of your own becoming.

To your thriving!

With love and hugs,

Suz
