Suz Ashley · Energy@Play ~ Play With Possibility

Hello Alchemysts!

I hope the energy has been kind to your bodies and systems. Whew! What a ride! Let’s take a look at what’s been going on…

Imagine Spirit walking up to you, placing a set of car keys in your hand, and asking: Where do you desire to go?

Not Where should you go? Where does everyone else expect you to go? Or even Where have you been going? Simply: Where do you desire to go now? That question lands differently, doesn’t it? It asks you to locate something internal, a desire, a quiet knowing, a pull rather than consulting the to-do list, the people-pleasing instinct, or the carefully constructed plan.

August feels like a threshold. The Lionsgate portal is closing as eclipse season begins, and rather than feeling like an ending, it feels like forward movement. We’ve done a tremendous amount of healing, learning, remembering, shedding, and becoming. There’s a reason the image that keeps surfacing is a crab that has molted. The old shell didn’t just stop fitting, it couldn’t contain what you’ve grown into. And here you are now: standing in fresh skin, a new awareness coming online, with possibilities appearing on the horizon.

This isn’t a month to be tentative. The energies surrounding us are genuinely supportive. The cosmos is not asking you to prove your worthiness, shrink yourself into someone else’s idea of acceptable, or white-knuckle your way forward. You’ve done the inner work. The invitation now is to let that work become a life.

Multiple doors are opening. Feel into which one is yours.

Shoulders back. Heart forward. Step into what you’ve become.

You are not too much. You are exactly enough, growing into more.

There are opportunities presenting themselves right now. Real ones. Some of them may already be visible: an invitation, a possibility, a door that seems to be swinging open. Others may still be crystallizing, just on the edges of your awareness. And here is the thing about this particular moment: not every opportunity is your opportunity. Discernment matters as much as openness.

The instinct, especially for those of us who were trained to be practical and logical, is to immediately apply the analytical mind. Does this make sense? Is this reasonable? What will it cost? What will people think? These are not bad questions. They have their place. But this month, they aren’t the first questions to ask. Begin somewhere else entirely. Begin in the body. Begin in the heart.

We have both feminine and masculine energies, and the invitation is for them to work together rather than be imbalanced. The feminine energy allows, feels, intuits, and receives. The masculine energy acts, chooses, creates, and moves. Neither one is the complete picture. You feel into an opportunity through your feminine. You sense its energy, its resonance, and timing. Then the masculine helps you choose and move. From a Human Design perspective, different authority types will have different ways of accessing this knowing, but the larger invitation is consistent: notice what is happening within you rather than automatically looking outside yourself for answers.

What do I desire from my life?

If I were living the life I desire, how would that life feel?

Feel first. Let resonance and sensation speak before logic enters the room. Only after you’ve identified the feeling do you ask what that life might actually look like.

Feel. Then think. This is the sequence for August.

We often ask ourselves what we want to do this month, this season of life, this year. What we want to accomplish, achieve, create, complete, or experience. Those are worthwhile questions. But there’s a deeper question underneath them, one that shapes everything else, and it doesn’t get asked nearly as often.

What kind of energy do I want to inhabit?

You’ve been curating your sanctuary, both literally and energetically. Maybe you’ve been thoughtful about your commitments, friendships, home, and schedule. These matter. But here’s the thing this month is asking you to recognize: you are the sanctuary. The energy you carry, the frequency you hold, the way you move through your days, that is your primary dwelling place. Everything else radiates outward from there.

Take a genuine inventory. What does your schedule feel like in your body, spacious or chronically squeezed? What do your relationships feel like, nourishing or depleting? What does your work feel like? What does your body feel like when you’re moving through your actual life? Not your ideal life, but the one you’re living right now? These questions aren’t invitations to catalog what’s wrong. They’re invitations to get honest about what you’re choosing, and to recognize that you do have choices, even within constraints.

Not as a destination, as a practice. What brings even a flicker of it today?

Permission to unclench. You don’t have to earn rest.

Notice what’s working. Acknowledge how far you’ve come.

The Universe provides. You’ve seen evidence. Let yourself believe it.

Pay attention to the moments that feel like winks from the cosmos.

You planted seeds. Some of them were planted months ago, during difficult seasons when you weren’t sure anything was growing at all. Others may have been planted years back, in the quiet persistence of doing the inner work even when the outer world wasn’t reflecting it yet. You kept going anyway. You kept discovering, healing, releasing, and showing up. And now, now, we’re entering a period of harvest.

There’s a meaningful difference between creating and allowing. We’ve become extraordinarily good at the creating side of things, at asking ourselves what else we need to do, what action we need to take, how we can work harder, be more strategic, or push a little further? These are not bad impulses. But August may occasionally ask you to set them down and try something that can feel surprisingly difficult: Can you allow the Universe to act on your behalf?

This doesn’t mean passivity. It doesn’t mean sitting still waiting for your life to arrive. It means holding a quality of receptivity alongside your action, trusting that what you’ve sown is actually growing, that your efforts have been received, and that you don’t have to white-knuckle every single outcome into existence. There is genuine room for things to move in your favor without you forcing them. Notice what arrives. Receive the harvest, even when it shows up in forms you didn’t expect.

Long-awaited developments. Bonuses. Opportunities arriving from directions you didn’t anticipate.

A renewed sense of wonder. Delight in what’s possible. Forward-moving energy.

The groundedness to receive. Knowing what you desire. Trusting what you feel.

Let’s zoom outward for a moment, because August’s energies aren’t only personal. There is a collective layer to what’s unfolding, and it’s worth naming honestly. Not everything happening in the larger world feels easy, exciting, or light. Large structures are under enormous pressure right now. Governments, corporations, economic systems, and institutions that have shaped our lives for generations are confronting circumstances that are demanding transformation, and many of them are resisting with everything they have.

We are watching, collectively, as people begin to question systems they once accepted as status quo or simply how things are. The cost of living. The accessibility of healthcare and housing. The concentration of wealth and power. The sense that decisions, affecting millions, are made by, and for, a very small number of people. There is a kind of collective patience that has been worn thin. Eventually, we reach a threshold. And when that threshold doesn’t lead to despair, it can lead to action. Clarity. Enough is enough.

There can be endings without hopelessness; disruption alongside creation. There can be real grief for what is disappearing alongside genuine excitement for what we’re collectively capable of building. These things aren’t contradictions. They’re the essence of living through a genuine turning point. The question that this moment keeps asking, underneath everything else, is a profound one: What happens when the old ways no longer fit the people we’re becoming? We’re in the process of finding out. And while the answer isn’t always comfortable, it is, I believe, ultimately necessary.

The collective reckoning and the personal transformation are not separate stories. We heal and that energy ripples outward. What shifts in the culture asks something of us individually. We are not observers of this moment. We are participants in it.

This is one of the most persistent and recurring messages of the year, and August is amplifying it considerably: the masks are coming off. And when I say masks, I don’t mean this as a criticism of anyone. We wear masks for reasons. We learned, through family dynamics, cultural messaging, heartbreak, or professional necessity that certain versions of ourselves were acceptable and certain versions were not. We learned to perform. We learned to adapt. We learned to make ourselves agreeable, palatable, people-pleasers, small, or whatever the situation deemed necessary. That wasn’t weakness. That was often protection and safety.

But here’s what’s shifting: the performance is becoming harder to sustain, and more importantly, less necessary. You’ll likely begin to notice both things simultaneously. You’ll see places where someone else is moving through a kind of reckoning with who they’ve been performing as, and you may feel the temptation to judge it or to feel superior to it. The more honest and useful response is curiosity: Where do I recognize this? Where am I still performing? Where am I pretending ~ to others, but especially, to myself? We can see others’ masks most clearly when they’re mirrors for our own.

Meet the removal of masks with compassion rather than shame. The mask served you once. You can thank it sincerely for that. And you can now put it down since it no longer reflects who you actually are. This month isn’t asking you to be raw and unfiltered in every context or to throw away all appropriate social grace. It’s asking you to stop pretending in the places where the pretending is costing you your actual self.

Who are you when you stop performing? That person is ready to be known.

For yourself. For others. We all wore what we thought we had to wear.

Notice people becoming more themselves. Celebrate it.

As the gentlest, most liberating, thing you can offer yourself.

There’s a movement happening now that goes beyond simply removing what isn’t authentic. The shedding creates space, yes, and also, space isn’t the destination. Something wants to emerge in its place. Something has been waiting quietly, or not so quietly, for the conditions to allow it. Your life force ~ your vitality, your creativity, desire, your actual alive-ness ~ is ready to flower, and it’s asking you to let it.

The energetic centers [Chakras] that keep surfacing this month tell an interesting story together. The crown is calling in inspiration and expanded awareness. The heart center is the compass for love and genuine connection. The root provides the grounding and sense of safety from which everything else grows. The sacral, perhaps the most emphasized of all right now, holds creativity, sensuality, sexuality, and life force. And from a Human Design perspective, the solar plexus brings emotional wisdom, the intelligence that lives by feeling.

So what makes you feel alive? Not productive. Not existing. Not virtuous. Genuinely alive. Passion and excitement can be accessed through so many doors: the beauty of nature, creativity, meaningful connections, music, physical movement, sensuality, and sexuality. Do something this month, whether its tiny, enormous, or something in between, that makes you feel inspired and genuinely cared for.

Dance. Swim. Walk. Yoga. Let your body remember what it’s for.

Build something. Cook. Garden. Make art. Write. Create, not to produce, to live.

Music. Nature. Pleasure. Sensuality. The world is offering itself via your senses.

Let’s be honest about something, because a post like this can accidentally tip into spiritual bypassing if we’re not careful, and I promised myself this piece would stay grounded. People are genuinely hurting. The cost of living is crushing people’s options. Collective stress is high. Difficult things happen: disappointment, heartbreak, illness, loss, or uncertainty. Joy isn’t a cure for any of that, and pretending it is would be both dishonest and unkind.

What I want to offer instead is something more nuanced and, more useful: when suffering is part of our experience, can we also make room for experiences that return life force to us? Not as a replacement for difficulty or grief. Not as a way of bypassing or skipping over what’s hard, but alongside it, because the things that remind us we’re alive also help us survive the hard seasons.

Joy doesn’t have to be monumental. It doesn’t require a vacation, a windfall, or the complete resolution of your problems. It can live in the smallest, most ordinary moments:

  • A delicious cup of coffee cupped in both hands

  • A song that makes your hips move

  • A wonderful meal

  • Bare feet on the Earth

  • Birdsongs coming in from an open window

  • Laughing until your stomach hurts

  • Making something simply because you desire it

  • Rest

  • Sunshine on bare skin

  • The presence of someone who knows you and loves you anyway

These things aren’t trivial. They are evidence of life. The presence of joy doesn’t invalidate pain. It reminds us that pain isn’t the entirety of being alive.

Beyond the general invitation of experiencing joy, there’s something more personal to explore ~ something specific to you, your body, your nervous system, your particular way of feeling alive. Call it your soul’s frequency. Your personal rhythm. The particular combination of experiences, sounds, times of day, and types of engagement that bring you back to yourself. Everyone’s looks different, and part of the work of August is figuring out what yours actually is ~ Not what you think it should look like, and not what it looks like for someone you admire, but yours.

As an example, here’s mine: Slow mornings are essential ~ no agenda, no rush, and no words. Music without lyrics, the sounds of the forest, incense, journaling and meditation. That is my Me Time. Later in the day, the frequency shifts. Now is the time for music with lyrics, for tunes that make me want to move ~ something with rhythm; a sick beat. Caribbean music. Cuban rhythms. Something that gets into my hips and reminds me that my body is a joyful thing to have (and that my hips don’t lie). :-) Neither frequency is better. Both are equal. My soul needs both.

You aren’t required to maintain one energetic frequency all day, every day. Life isn’t monotone, and neither are you. Maybe you have a quiet frequency and a wild one. A reflective one and a social one. A creative one and a restful one. All of it counts. Ask yourself genuinely: What is the rhythm of a life that actually feels like yours? Then, as a small and concrete invitation: choose a song, or several, that reminds you what alive feels like. Play it this month. Move. Be silly. Create. Be radiant.

Slow mornings. Nature sounds. Stillness. Meditation and going inward.

Music with a beat. Movement. Something that gets your hips swaying.

Making for the sake of making. Expression without a plan or a product.

Silly. Carefree. Laughing. Mischievous. Being ridiculous on purpose.

Genuine rest. Doing nothing. Letting the body and mind recharge.

Here’s what I know will happen this month: something won’t go according to plan. A roadblock will appear. An opportunity might feel like it’s slipping. Old patterns will knock on the door, because old patterns are persistent. And growth doesn’t make us immune to difficulty. It makes us more capable of meeting it. There will be prickly energy. There will be moments of confusion, frustration, or a particular exhaustion that comes from trying to hold a higher frequency in situations where other humans aren’t vibrating at the level you are.

When that happens, the invitation isn’t to become rigid, force yourself back into a performed sense of peace, or to pretend everything is fine. The invitation is this: be a tree. Think of tree pose in yoga or a tree in your yard or nearby park. Roots going deep. Solid trunk. And branches that move with the wind ~ bend, sway, and don’t break because they know how to flex. That is strength. Strength and flexibility aren’t opposites. They belong together, and this moment is asking for both.

When something throws you, try this simple sequence: Pause. Ground yourself, feet on the floor, breath in the body, a moment of actual stillness. Notice what’s happening without immediately reacting to it. Ask: Is there something here for me to learn? Do I desire to change direction, or Do I simply desire to let this pass? Then recalibrate and move forward. There is also something worth naming here about the larger support system that exists ~ from guides, higher consciousness, Spirit, All That Is, the Universe, or whatever you call the benevolent intelligence of the universe. You are not navigating life by yourself.

Before you react. Before the old pattern kicks in. Breathe. One moment of stillness.

Roots into the Earth. Body in the present. You are here. You are safe.

What is this asking of me? What do I need to discover, redirect, or release?

From your center. From your knowing.

For those familiar with Human Design and the Gene Keys, I want to offer a brief look at the keys active through August, not as an academic exercise, but because when several different energetic lenses say the same thing, it’s worth taking notice. What’s remarkable about this particular sequence is how cohesively it threads together everything else we’ve been exploring: authenticity, commitment, options, trust, and the willingness to release what no longer serves us.

Intolerance → Understanding → Forgiveness
Loosen the grip on certainty. Move beyond the polarization. Allow genuine understanding to expand where judgment once lived.

Division → Guidance → Virtue
Where does true guidance come from? Who’s been driving? Who gets the keys now? Leadership from within.

Half-Heartedness → Commitment → Devotion
Now that opportunities are appearing, what gets your Hell Yes!? Be discerning. Choose what calls to you.

Dishonesty → Intimacy → Transparency
An echo of the month’s authenticity message. Masks come off. Barriers dissolve. We allow ourselves to be transparent.

Impatience → Patience → Timelessness
You no longer have to force the outcome. Trust your rhythm. Allow timing to participate in what’s unfolding.

Exhaustion → Resolve → Divine Will
As August closes, where are you ready to reclaim your energy?

Read together, this sequence describes a journey: Understand → Guide → Commit → Reveal → Trust → Resolve. It’s as though the Universe is quietly revealing the path as we walk it.

The asteroids, Isis and Osiris, are shining brightly right now and moving into a notable configuration in early September. I won’t go into the astrology. Instead, I desire to focus on the energetic message they’re carrying, which feels remarkably relevant to everything we’ve been discussing. Let me briefly tell you the myth because myths have a way of holding truths that analysis can’t quite convey.

Isis searches for the fragmented pieces of Osiris after his dismemberment. A story of love, persistence, and profound determination. But she cannot recover everything. One piece is irretrievably lost. And so she does something remarkable: she creates what is missing ~ From unconditional love and her mastery as a healer, oracle, and magical being. She fashions what isn’t there. She makes Osiris whole through a combination of gathering and creating. And from that wholeness, new life becomes possible.

That is the metaphor being offered to us now. We, too, have fragments. Pieces of ourselves left behind from beliefs, careers, identities, relationships, and earlier versions of who we were. We suppressed our voice because it wasn’t safe to use it. We set aside our creativity because it didn’t seem practical. We buried our anger because we were told it was ugly. We hid our tenderness because it felt too vulnerable. We made our ambition smaller, our joy quieter, and our authentic selves less visible. We did what we needed to do to survive. And now we’re being invited to gather those pieces back. And where gathering isn’t fully possible, to create what is missing. We are being asked to integrate the fragments of ourselves into wholeness.

What you know, what you see, what you have to say. It matters.

The imagining, making, and building of things that didn’t exist before.

The softness you learned to hide. It is not a weakness. It is profound intelligence.

The part you learned to make smaller. It is needed now. Fully. Unapologetically.

Isis has another association that feels important for this moment: she was known for causing the Nile to flood. And in that flooding, something essential happened. The landscape changed. Afterward, when the waters receded, what remained was some of the most fertile soil on Earth. The floods prepared the soil for seeds to be planted. Both food and life were made possible and sustainable.

Something can end and simultaneously create the conditions for something new to begin. This is not a comfortable thought when we’re in the middle of a flood, but it is profoundly true. We may be living through our own mythic death-and-rebirth cycle, both individually and collectively. And if the Isis myth offers us anything, it offers us this: the goddess doesn’t abandon what she loves when it’s broken. She gathers. She creates. She acts from love. She does the work.

Old structures are being questioned in ways that feel both disruptive and inevitable. Old identities are becoming uncomfortable, and I mean that in a good way. It means you’ve grown out of them. Old definitions of gender, leadership, money, power, relationships, spirituality, success, and work are being reconsidered. This is not the world falling apart. This is the world becoming honest. And honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable, is always the beginning of something better. What might we grow in the fertile ground left behind? Ponder this. We will be creating it.

The eclipses this season function as a kind of wake-up call. What we’re being asked to release may be what we thought we needed. What arrives in its place may be what we’ve actually been asking for all along.

Structures change. Masks come off. Opportunities appear. Old wounds catch you off guard. You discover pieces of yourself you’d forgotten about. The humans around you are louder or more volatile than feels comfortable. You’re handed the keys and realize you’re not sure where you desire to go. How do you want to feel in all of it? That question is both simple and enormous. This is the month to answer it with some specificity.

Lead from love. I want to be precise about what I mean by this, because love can be misunderstood as softness without edges, as tolerance without discernment, as saying yes to everything. The love I’m pointing to is different. It has its own architecture. It includes sovereignty, knowing who you are, and where you’re not willing to compromise. It includes discernment, sensing what is in alignment, and what is not. It includes boundaries, the ability to say no from a grounded, loving place rather than from fear or reactivity. And it includes the full, high-heart intelligence that Isis embodies: healing through profound love, gathering what’s scattered, creating what’s missing, and doing the work with love, ease, and grace.

This kind of love acts, allows, and creates. It grieves deeply and celebrates wholeheartedly. It meets difficulty with compassion and can hold the paradox of a world that is simultaneously crumbling while becoming more whole. This is what we’re being called to do, as a daily practice, as you go about your life.

Knowing who you are. Not compromising for anyone or anything.

Sensing alignment. Trusting your gut. Feeling what is for you and what isn’t.

Not waiting for conditions to be perfect. Making something new for the fun of it.

Celebrating the harvest. Trusting the timing. Co-creating with the Universe.

Let’s return to where we began. Spirit has handed you the keys. And maybe, probably (spoken in my best Ilya Rosanov voice), you don’t know exactly where the road takes you. That’s okay. You’re not supposed to have the whole map. You’re supposed to have the next step that lights you up and turns you on. The whole journey doesn’t need to be visible from where you’re standing right now. Simply take the keys.

You know more about yourself than you did before. You’ve shed a skin that no longer fit. You’ve gathered pieces of yourself back that you didn’t realize you had buried. You’re slowly discovering what is a Hell Yes! and a F*ck NO! You’re figuring out what authenticity feels like in your body. You’re finding your rhythm, and that when the winds blow hard, you can bend without uprooting yourself. That is huge! That is the work of a lifetime, and you’re doing it.

Perhaps higher consciousness isn’t about escaping this messy, unpredictable, sometimes heartbreaking, human experience. Perhaps it’s about becoming more available to it ~ More present to the birdsongs, the coffee, the sun on your face, and the music that gets your hips moving. Let’s not forget the beauty and love you’re capable of making, plus the ridiculous, irreplaceable aliveness of being this person, in exactly this moment, on this complex planet. Gather your pieces. Remove the masks. Choose what feels aligned. Grow your roots deep. Let yourself sway. Take the keys and drive.

Be ridiculous. Create. Dance. Feel the sun. Hear the birds. Love somebody. Love yourself. Notice the synchronicities. Put your feet on the Earth. Relish that first sip of coffee each morning. Rest. Take the keys and drive.

To your thriving!

With love and hugs,

Suz
