Do you fear the boys and men
Do you jump and dance for them
Do you think it's not "if" but "when"
Do you long for safety and zen
It's important to believe in you
Live the way that feels most true
Valuing friends who help you review
And keep you safe from the dangerous few
I wish we lived in a world of safety
Where women didn't need to walk more hasty
Whilst being accused of not being dainty
But this is the reality daily
We invite you boys to join our song
To grow into men who are morally strong
Calling out behaviour you know is wrong
Make the world a place where we all belong
This was written for the NAPOWRIMO prompt of to write a poem with a rhythm of "girls playground jumping and clapping games". I had an extremely intense reaction to the idea that these are "girls games" and that turned into some negativity about the safety of women and girls. It also contains my prompt “fear” from my new book Stanzas of Grace and Light
