I can’t stop reading new releases.

I have a NetGalley addiction that could take down a Victorian child, for one thing, but there are other reasons too — I love chatting about the latest bestseller, reading buzzy reviews, and above all cutting any “oh, I only read the classics…” mansplainer off at the knees before they start.

If you can relate to one or more of those reasons, you’re in luck.

We are eating good for the rest of the year. Here’s what you should have on your radar this fall and beyond.

Also, this post contains affiliate links, so I may receive compensation if you buy a book from a link below. It comes at no additional cost to you.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Literary Fiction

One-sentence synopsis: Katie is a lost young woman until she finds purpose in becoming completely f*cking obsessed with her boyfriend’s cat.

Why I’m awaiting it: Forgive the obvious reference point but lost young women lit fic is like catnip to me.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Horror

One-sentence synopsis: If you disrespect this plantseller she will straight up bury your corpse amidst her monsteras.

Why I’m awaiting it: I chase these zany thrillers. The highs are high and the lows are extraordinarily low.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Literary Fiction

One-sentence synopsis: A writer returning to her hometown is haunted by memories that fundamentally could not have happened.

Why I’m awaiting it: The cover is not unrelated.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Literary Fiction

One-sentence synopsis: Decades trace the ups and downs of a marriage between a dancer and a reporter.

Why I’m awaiting it: This has two of my automatically-read traits: set in Boston and following a marriage over years.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Literary Fiction

One-sentence synopsis: Two best friends who bonded on a trip to France move to New York to begin their families and next chapters.

Why I’m awaiting it: Cover, complicated friendships, set in places I like — several reasons.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Mystery

One-sentence synopsis: An organized art conservator and wild artist who happen to be sisters team up to solve a family art mystery. (If I write the word art anymore it won’t look like a word. Yup. There it goes.)

Why I’m awaiting it: I could not be less artistic, so artsy novels are like fantasy to me.

Release Date: 8/4 | Genre: Historical Fiction

One-sentence synopsis: Two cousins, both moving from New Orleans to LA, fall out of the close confidant status they shared, but life keeps them together in an unpredictable way.

Why I’m awaiting it: I paused writing this post for so long — yes, this early — that I’ve actually already read it. It’s good!
