Hello Fellow Sketchers!
Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and found moments to squeeze in some creativity. Like many of you, we found it challenging to maintain our daily sketching habit with children at home and the whirlwind of holiday entertaining - but we still managed to sneak in a few sketches during the festivities!
This week has been particularly special as we reunited for not one, but two sketching sessions! Our first gathering was a cosy morning at our Mum's, where we drew her beautiful succulents and warmed up with homemade soup - the perfect antidote to the post-Christmas bustle. Thursday brought us back together for our regular session, reminding us just how much we'd missed these shared creative moments. We've renewed our commitment to these sessions, recognising how vital they are for keeping our creative sparks alive.
During a recent family walk up Cothelstone Hill on the Quantock Hills, Emma experienced a magical moment when snow began falling. She captured some quick photographs that became our inspiration for this week's sketches. The almost monochrome scenes felt perfect for capturing the essence of winter, and we challenged ourselves to keep our approach quick and loose - focusing on enjoying the process rather than fixating on the final result.
